....decided to fire up the family flivver and head up to London for the "Big Bash" ....haven't been back to London for a number of years even though I lived there for part of the 70's ( Ceeps , Ox-Box etc ) .......and realized the ELTA clubhouse was on the east side of town in kind of an older industrial area . ...near Highbury on Dundas . There were instructions on the ELTA Facebook site to hold off until after 5pm so as to not pissoff local businesses . I must have been the only one who read the instructions because when I got there at 5:30 I was faced with a walk of over 1/4 mile from where I could park .........1/4 miles are good for racing , NOT for walking old farts ............What a Crowd !! Had to be 200+ rods there , parked in every available space imaginable . This was a party !
Pretty much an older crowd I would say , everyone having a good time . It was tough taking pictures with my camera ( I don't have a cell phone ) with all the humanity around so I didn't get all that I wanted . For a ton more pics and videos I would suggest y'all go to the Fans of ELTA Facebook groups website . You can click on " photos" for even more pics . Sorry , I left out "rat rods " and the like , just not my " cuppa tea" as it were .......there should be pics on the ELTA sight if you are in to the ratters .
A good selection of cars , Ford , Chevy , Mopar , saw a Buick and an Olds , even a Nash ! , some rails , gassers , low riders etc.etc. My favourite was the 57 Ford 300 B/Gas 427 Cammer bad ass , the guy fired it up a little later on . In fact a good number of owners fired up their rigs to wow everyone .
I would have to give a thumbs up or two to the ELTA folks who arranged all this ......lots of work and hours involved to be sure . I don't know if they expected such a turn out but they handled it well .
So , here's a few pics in no particular order :
...a sweet looking Maverick
...only Buick I saw , nice !

Great Pics. Thanks for Post'n. Ben said the same thing though about getting there after 5pm. You and him did listen to the request!! He arrived at 5:45. LOL No complaints from him though either! Awesome gathering!

TJ, I am really glad you came down and experienced the party. We try our best to self-police but the merchant complained to us 3 days before the show. Not much time for the message to get around. Anyhoo, the party went on and the merchant hasn't complained to us ..yet, so maybe we're OK You should have seen last year …they started rollin in about 9:00AM for a 5:00PM start time
I want to thank any and all of you who came out to make this year the biggest we've ever pulled off. WIthout you we have no party.
Thanks again, Wayne

Don't know which " merchant " you would be referring too .......that used car lot nearby ? Not much else around that I could see . Didn't see any cops around either , nor was there a need for them ..........guys were behaving in their cars very nicely .
I've been involved in car "shows" in the past ....off-site sales when I was in the car business . They take a lot of work that the average guy just doesn't see , so I appreciate the effort that went onto this Bash just to set it up , plus the handling the on going sea of people attending . The Club hit a home run IMO .
Wayne-r….I heard nothing but good things(as I do every year!)Yourself,Mark and the entire ELTA Crew ALWAYS out do yourself.Jay said the time he had was first class and Outstanding.Hope to see you soon.
I'm about as far from a social media freak as you can get ....no cell phone/texter ( !! ) .......and I don't shoot the breeze on Facebook but I do belong to about 20 Facebook groups ( mostly Ford related ) and there is a lot of info to be had . Yes , there are a few goofballs on a couple of the sites , but most are well administrated . Try it , you might like it .
TeeJay, that 57 Ford is a Windsor car you know. Bob owned and raced it when Windsor Dragway was open. He let it get away from him for a few years but got it back and it's awesome! His brother has recently found his old '58 Ranchero and it's being restored now too. So neat that they found their old race cars and did such an incredible job rebuilding them. I was there and missed you again. Our friends at the ELTA do an unbelievable job with this deal every year, I'm just afraid it's getting too big to control. Our Manning Rd. A&W got word the other day that they must shut down their cruise nights because of complaints from other businesses. These people should realize the advertising possibilities available to them with so many people attending these events. It seems crazy to complain about potential customers coming so close to your business.

Cool story ! I'm wracking my old brain but I can't remember a 57 Ford .....there was a 55 or 56 Ford 390 from the Street Cleaners that I ran ( on the street ,oops ) with my new 68 Mustang GT . He beat me by two lengths but he was quite perturbed when he found out I only had a 302 4bbl ......Mustang was pretty light ( knotchback was even lighter ) and could surprise a few folks . I lived in South Windsor ....maybe the 57 was from the other end of town . I went to Windsor Dragway on opening day , intending to run the 'Stang but there was a huge lineup so I spectated that day . Shortly after that I moved to Guelph to attend university so never got back to Windsor Dragway . It didn't last too long unfortunately ......was doomed to fail I guess with all the construction out that way over the years .
The Manning Road A&W / cruise , got complaints from GolfTown I'm told as to parking issues . I have to wonder about it all because I'm over that way all the time and don't ever see the parking lot exactly "teeming " with cars at the best of times . Maybe wishful thinking on the store's part .
I did not get to the bash due to family commitments, but did get to spend Friday on the garage crawl. What a great bunch of guys and gals! Everybody had a great day, the weather was perfect and the garages were exceptional! Thanks to all who make this weekend possible!

I know were already working on the plan's for next years Friday Shop Crawl and the ELTA Party..... never a dull moment down here....lol....hope to see you soon....your always welcome down at the ELTA Shop brother. Plus thanks to all that came out this year to make our 11th Annual Party that much more fun.....it's much appreciated by all the ELTA Disciples Speed. THANKYOU.
This was a great show and I will be back. I would put it up there with the HAMB Drags, or the old Hunnert Car Pileup (before it stopped) as one of the best events around.
