Looking for Info.....

I am looking for some info on a car with origins around Napanee, Quinte Area, and Mohawk Dragstrip so I figured this would be a good place to start.. While surfing around on another forum I came across a group of pictures from Mohawk Dragstrip that were supposed to be taken in 1965. One car in particular stands out to me...the first picture. I believe this is a 37 Dodge coupe. The reason i am interested in this picture is that I think this might be my Dad's 37 Dodge. In 1986 Dad bought a 37 Dodge from a fellow in Bath, Ontario by the name of Ross Harrington. Before Mr. Harrington owned it a fellow named Gary Dillenbeck owned it, but that's all i know about it.

Now, if this was of a 36 Ford, or a Model A I would be skeptical that I might ever be able to nail down an old photo(s) of this car, but its a 37 Dodge and in the almost 30 years that Dad has owned this car I can honestly say that I have seen less than a hand full that have been rodded and even less locally.(we are form Port Hope). Some details about the car in the picture and Dad's car are very similar. When Dad bought his car it had a straight axle, 440/ 4 speed and the rear fenders had been radius-ed and flared. The car in the picture almost certainly has a straight axle, and the rear fenders have been radius-ed.

When he purchased the car it was painted a dark burgundy and had a red diamond pleated velour interior. The 440 had fenderwell headers and side pipes. He drove it this way for a couple of years and then repainted it Hemi orange with a very course gold metal flake. He swapped the straight axle and 4 speed for a torsion bar front suspension and a 727, and put some running boards on it so Mom wouldn't burn her legs every time she got out of it. We raced at Shannonville, him in the coupe, me in my 65 Chevy II for 5 years or so. Sometime in the early 90's, we pulled the running boards off it, bobbed the rear fenders, repainted it black with a pink graphic on the side and he drove and raced it at like that until about '96 when it got parked due to other interests. This is a picture of it in about 2010, the first time this car would have seen daylight in about 13 years.

Dad is in the process of refreshing the old coupe now and has stripped the paint, and added a tunnel ram to the 440. It would be awesome to be able to find some history on this car and maybe find out if in fact the coupe from Mohawk and my Dad's car are one and the same. If any one has any info on either of these cars please feel free to contact me here on this forum or by email at darrylheld85@gmail.com.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Darryl Held.

If you Google Gary Dillenbeck, the name comes up living in Napanee. His phone number is there. Don has probably seen this post and could reply. I don't know if Beezer is on here.
