what to do with old parts

I was buying old brass carbs at Hershey this year 8 to be exact. The up draft pre 1920s ones that had to be complete in good shape and the guys could not figure out what I was up to. Johnston, Wheeler-Schebler, Kingston, Mayer, Marvel and so on, all real popular brand names I am sure you all recognise! My first one I have done is a 1913 Johnston book end and the wife is so exited another car part in the house. The next one I will polish rather than sand blast to make it shiny rather than a dull finish. I might have a tough time getting my money back out of this project as a book end. Does any one else have any ideas on recycling automotive parts or mechanical parts for that matter.
