Just got this 72 Chev dug out of the woods,my neighbours grand father bought this brand new,it hasen't moved in about 15 years,we are going to do a rat theme on this, maybe short bed and lower it and the new ZZ6 crate motor, the woods here in South Carolina nearly swallowed it up,so hopefully we can save it

It'd definitely a " Southern " truck , when you see the little Gheko nest on the frame -- My '70 has some -- Good looking unit to work with -- All the Best -- LATER -- DON / Fleet 51

Sorry about the " Fat - Thumb " syndrome -- The opening word was supposed to be " IT'S " -- LATER -- DON / Fleet 51

That's actually a mud wasp nest. We have them here too.

image.jpgMud daubers, fire ants, rattle snakes, copperheads, We got them all, got the bed off today, found some more treasures behind the seat, apparently my buddy left about 1/2 a tank of gas in the tank, then the cap sealed up,no venting at all for 15 years, and 115 degree heat, this tank expanded so big,it looked like a pregnant cow, then a hole rusted out the side of the tank, now I don't have to tell you about the smell, OH MY, but still I think it will work out,no rust in the roof,or floor pans, cab supports are in great shape.

Looks like a solid starting point.
Did the fuel tank push the back wall of the cab out?

Put that shop-vac on it and that tank will be just great...biggrin ..Working and or restoring that southern tin is such a pleasure after some of the stuff we have worked on before we new that Southern stuff was so nice..I have had a couple Saskatchewan vehicles to build over the years and they were as good as Southern tin.. One I brought back had sitting in a scrap yard for 15 years and the floors were like new..but the soil was very sandy and not like that clay we have around here..good for crop farming but not so good for car farmers..looks like a great truck for how long it's been sitting..

Too bad you're not closer I have good fuel tank you could have. But down where you are they shouldn't be too hard to find. The beauty of these trucks is parts are pretty easy to find.
