Wynne to announce health, infrastructure funding in northern Ontario tour

The Canadian PressAugust 5, 2016

TORONTO — Premier Kathleen Wynne is embarking on a northern tour amid growing unrest in the region, including the relaunch of the Northern Ontario Party that wants to separate and create its own province.

Wynne leaves Saturday on a weeklong visit to schools, hospitals, businesses and First Nations from North Bay to Sioux Lookout, with stops in Sudbury, Dryden, Kenora, Fort Frances, Kirkland Lake and nearly a dozen other communities.

She will make a series of funding announcements on health care, infrastructure and other measures that the government says will enhance public services and help accelerate economic growth in the north.

Wynne says the government is building on the many strengths in the north to ensure everyone in Ontario can enjoy a high quality of life.

The Northern Ontario Party, which emerged from the ashes of the old Northern Ontario Heritage Party, was registered with Elections Ontario last week, and says its first goal is to elect 11 candidates to the legislature in 2018.

There's also a revived movement underway in Kenora to have that city join Manitoba after a local paper mill announced it was closing because of Ontario's high electricity rates.

It's called "bribing the North for VOTES" spend a TON of $$$ to win a few seats in next election!!! Just like the Billions she [it] spent on cancelling gas Plants in Oakville area to win 2 seats in last election!!!!! But the people "fall" for it & vote FIBERAL !!! How DUMB can you be???

It worked for her in the last election. She bribed the 416 area with millions and promises and it worked then.

Justin slid in because he " is going to legalize pot", now he's back pedalling like a true politician. He'll spend millions on " studies" rather than creating a proper protocol for medicinal usage.

Hmmmmmm...

I'm in Sudbury, and pretty much from Parrysound and North get the shaft. I don't know anybody up here that voted Liberal, Federal or Provincial... We are mostly working class up here, working Union jobs, so most here vote NDP (not that they would be any different).

We don't have pull up here, that's all YOU Southerners....I'm surprised nobody shot her while she was here on Saturday, I know I was at camp, and I couldn't  give two ****s where she visits, she's not welcome.

And Pete, I think it's time for a grammar lesson...Jesus Christ you're hard to follow. Punctuation should be the second lesson.

 Federal there was almost no red on the "SOUTHERN" part of the map infact it looks like there is a lot of red up your way.

I wouldn't consider Toronto to be southern Ontario JMO.  http://www.threehundredeight.com/p/canada.html

I've checked my "punctuation " in this and other posts, don't see problems & grammar is correct?? What's the problem??? may have a spelling mistake that didn't get caught.
