Talked to the guys at hortons hotrods Paul recommended vintage auto insurance, roughly half the price of Hagarty who I have now, anybody have experience with them good or bad,,restrictions etc. Any info would be appreciated, looking to insure a 41 willys highly modified. I have a 52 GMC upgraded to front disks GM crate engine with historic plates and a 31 chevy coupe with a blown 355 both with hagarty if vintage looks good I may go there,,,thanks Jim

Vintage is good but have the usual restrictions. Don't cancel your insurance with Hagarty until you have the actual policy in your hand. Zehres is also very good.

I switched to Vintage awhile back, better coverage for less, they cover the HST [13% in Ont) which Lant didn't so you lost that on total claim?? Pontiac was well over $500 for Modified vehicle, now at $320 + coverage for parts I may have for it. Yes, You need an Appraisal, but you should have on anyway, as I was told by another Ins. co. that they can ask for proof on a claim, even though they agreed for 19A !!! Called CYA

My 31 chev coupe has an agreed value of 28,500 with hagarty, premium is near 450 per year. According to the brochure from Vintage it would be 240 per year, big difference. Jarvis don't you guys in BC have government ins.

Pete that's good news, yes I have appraisals. The 41 willys will be a new policy and the 52 gmc is a upgraded appraisal, both recent like a week ago, the 31 is older so I my have to do it again but both 31 and 52 are with hagarty so I would wait for the policy to end before going to Vintage. Stay warm,,Jim.

Only complaint I've heard about Vintage was regarding a friend who was accepted for coverage and after cancelling the company he was with, he was turned down by RSA the company Vintage insures you with. The reason was that his wife had a claim with the family car several years prior. He offered to exclude her from the policy with Vintage but they declined. He was left scrambling.

Bob T, the last claim we made was when we had a collision on the bike insured through state farm, the driver made a U turn in front of us, we sued and won so not sure if it would be relevant. I will be upfront with them in any case, that was 8 years ago.

BlackRat, yes, we have government insurance out here.
There are several different stages of it for old cars.
Some, you can only drive the car in a parade or some other restriction.
Antique modified, you can drive anytime, anywhere.
I'll have to have a look at this.
My '37 Ford is modified antique or modified collector.
The insurance is quite reasonable. Right now the car is up on the hoist so
I can't get at the paper work. But I think I pay just over $200 a year.
I'll find out more in the morning.
