I had occasion to order from Summit something I could not source anywhere else.  Hate spending in the US these days with the wicked dollar.  It was shipped FedEx, a company I have always loathed.  It was a pleasant surprise when the delivery driver dropped off the parcel without his hand out.  Summit gives you a delivery charge to Canada, very reasonable and a second charge taxes and duty and I guess that includes brokerage because FedEx did not do their extra charges due at delivery.  My order was US 99.10, here is a chart with Summits charges to Canada, the first amount shipping and the second taxes, duties and brokerage.  It arrived here in 4 days.  I like this method, no surprises at the door.  On larger purchases or multiple purchases I ship to Wellesley Island and pick them up.  If I am not over for 48 hours, they have the discretion to charge me HST at the border.

It seems to me that some of those car places in the USA have wised up to this and made it easier for us Canuks to get parts.
As for FedEx, I have never had a problem with them.
UPS on the other hand, every one I see one of their trucks I think of this song. www.youtube.com/watch
I once ordered some parts from a company in Colorado. First time UPS rush, needed stuff now, got it next day. 2 weeks later, needed more for backup. Sent it out economy, took a week to get here and costed me more money than the first order. Even though the box size and weight was the same. Go figure.

You are right Mike, look at the chart, 9.75 for ground and $50 m0re for economy. Go figure.

I brought in some things from Summit about a year ago now. They have a Toronto thing, or did. I had no shipping etc, and I got a T shirt,Hat and a Catalogue.

I know I called USA to order it and they just looked after it. No price changes or anything.

FYN RYD is/was the Summit dealer in Ontario. I don't know if he still is but he is on here all the time, maybe he can chime in.

I've had the same results from Summit. Rockauto is another great US company to deal with where everything is paid up front and there's no surprises at your front door.

uh .. yeah
don't be suprised if a bill shows up in the mail from fedex
.. just sayin.. happened to me with both summit and jegs
(ups/fedx)

on both of the last things I ordered from each a couple of years ago - with the same shipping to canada costing deal you describe

i have been ordering from Summit for years - never got a second shipping bill and shipping has always been excellent both on cost aand speed

I've had good luck with summit. The charges are all spelled out, I've never had a second charge when the package arrives.
I have no real love for UPS but my local delivery guy is awesome. If I'm not home he'll come find me at work, it's only 10 minutes away but it's above and beyond the service of any of the other shipping companies.
