The lindsay Swap Meet
Permalink

Hello: I am going to my very first swap meet in Lindsay soon.  Should I just load up my truck with all my spare parts and hope I come home with all new (old) ones?  Is there anything I should know before stepping into the ring?  Do people actually 'swap' or is it just a buy and sell?

Buy and sell. You had better check to see if the are any spots left in order to sell.

I would not just show up expecting to get a spot as they are sold out every year. Good to see you have car parts to sell or they will not let you have a spot. I go on Thursday to park the trailers in position. Then set up on Friday that is a busy day with the venders buying from each other. Another tip make sure you and your helpers have their wrist bands on when coming in.

Oh I don't have enough to open a stall or anything.  I just thought that if it is an actual "swap Meet", I should bring some stuff.  I have an old dash board and dash panel, one of those lights that used to be mounted on the driver side of a cop car as a spot light controlled from inside.  Some other headlights and an old grill.  Not a lot but some more odds and ends.

Why don't you take some pictures of the stuff and post it up on here. Name your price or what you are looking for and you never know.

Welcome aboard
Warren

Hey, why not.... If I'm interested in what you have, I would swap for something that you may like. We'll be in the fenced field by the visitor parking. last row by a pogo and fry trailer.

I forgot to mention... If you're a vendor and you have "NorthernRatRodder" at your site..... Chances are he'll be paying in nickles (being from Sudbury and all).
He will be the guy with the wheel barrel full of coins.... ;)

Is he the guy that walks around with the change dispenser on his belt also?

New video on the Lindsay swap meet. Not many socks and shirts at Lindsay as the other swap meets seem to. Talked to Leon today and tells me they may be sold out of vending sites before it opens. They always like to have some open sites for the people that drop and take a chance. See you at AACA Lindsay. www.youtube.com/watch

Talked to Leon today and tells me they are almost sold out of vending spots for this year. He hopes to have a few left for guys that just show up at the gate last minute for a spot but it is going to be close. They sold out last year also with 95% automotive only. With new guys coming in from eastern Ontario, Quebec and one from Nova Scotia. So the guys from the Antique Automobile Club of America or AACA are keeping there word on Lindsay being an Automotive swap meet. There 46th year doing this and their 5 location and hopefully their last location starting originally in Orono.

I have two 20x20 canopy's a heated camper and a well stocked fridge. Have waited since last spring for this so we are going Thursday that is supposed to be clear to set up. Then can sit back the rest of the weekend and keep dry under the canopy.

Lindsay sounds like a good meet but it is twice the distance to haul stuff and my 3 spots would cost $25 each more. $50 vs $75. When you do not have a lot to sell the overhead makes a difference.

It is $65 after your first year so $15 a spot more and the guy next to you will be automotive also. I am not saying Lindsay is the only place to be but it is the largest all automotive swap meet with a large car show in eastern Ont. I know two years ago they had over 9,000 through the gates setting a record. Look at the plates in the parking lot and there are cars from Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and from the US. I sold my original Biscayne 2 door BB to a fellow from Truro Nova Scotia two years ago. You say it is twice the distance I have always said if you do not like driving your car you are in the wrong hobby. LOL

We're heading out in the morning. I'm kinda glad that some are not going... more room for me to expand. I'll just pick up another site...
I'll gladly pay the $65 here, rather than the $165 at Barrie.

But we are only talking an extra one hour drive and you can stop at the One Route on the 401 to have a nap if you get tired.  Plus you will be driving on the 401 and 115 all the way there and no secondary roads.  If you notice 30-S6 is coming from North Bay. Anyway have a good weekend and stay dry.
