These pictures show the extent of the changes necessary to add a GMC 6-53 blower to a Chev 90 degree V6. The blower had the rear housing replaced with a shorter grease packed ball brg setup. The front drive snout is custom made and the blower is 'O' ring grooved. Another picture shows the carburetor adaptor added to the top of the blower, to add a Holley 390 carb, with a rare remote mixture strength adjustment from in the vehicle. There wasn't room for the distributor, so it was cut off flush with the intake manifold and a complex 3 gear offset drive that moved the distributor back 1.62 in. was fitted. The intake manifold was originally a 2bbl manifold, cut out in the center, welded on top to allow machining the top surface flat, and a 1.5in thick adaptor mounted using 13 socket hd cap screws. The pop-off valve is also mounted in this block, which adapts the blower opening to the manifold opening. The 2pc water outlet can also be seen. What is not really visible is the blower drive using custom made pulleys and a 6V serpentine belt drive ( since it only takes about 20hp to drive the blower at 8400rpm--1.4X engine rpm ).---these changes took me 7 months and about 300hrs of custom machining ( i've got a metalworking shop in the basement ).
I'd love to see a photo of the engine with the blower in place. Great machine work and engineering here. That offset distributor drive is a real jewel.
