2008 Ford Escape fuel thing

I'm scratching my head on this one guys.

This truck had no whirl/noise etc from the tank/pump so I thought the pump was done. I kinda thought maybe froze up so left it in the shop to thaw over night.

Next day it fired up fine but it wasn't soon after, the pump sounded like it was trying to pump gravel. I took it for a tour anyway for an hour and it ran fine.

Next day, no go, barely idle and sounding like gravel again. Hucked a new pump in, and again sounded fine, ran fine but died again soon after.

I remember Fords used a MAP sensor years ago, but I'm kinda lost on this now.

Anybody have a similar issue with one and could guide me to a better place ?

most fords have a fuel pump control module, on the pick ups it is mounted on the frame by the spare tire and rot out, not sure where you will find it on a escape, do a google search

I am sure you checked the fuel filter, but thought I would mention it anyways.

Thanks guys. We'll keep trying to narrow it down. Funny it's not throwing any codes either ?

Well, it did.

Replaced the pump, like I said. Replaced the control module (boy that was fun). Figured what the heck, and switched out the relay and rail sensor up front, just in case. (relax, Steve and I both decided we were eating that cost) Ya, filter etc too.

We kept it for the week and drove it daily (dude said to). Ran fine, started fine. We prolly put around 400km on it, basically using it as our own daily driver.

Dude came yesterday to take it home. Fired it up and made it about 10 feet and died.

Well dude says he's gonna sell it as a parts truck and not dropping any more into it.

He calls his son that has a car trailer to come pick it up. Waiting for the trailer, we're talking and he said it's been a Lemon since the day he bought it.

Anyway, trailer shows up and I thought why not. Fires right up. Got it half way on the trailer and died again. Used the tractor to push it rest of way.

I've never been a guy to throw in the towel, but I had no tears when it went away.

Gotta be something in the wiring, a corroded wire or something somewhere ?

I dunno. Just one of those things that'll haunt me forever.

That's for the help anyway guys.
