Updating our old car radios

is there anyone on this site that fools around with car audio? I am trying to figure out how the upgrades are done to vintage car radios to bring them into the new era. I know there are companies out there that do these converskins, but I have had a hand in every aspect of this reincarnation and would like to keep that going.

the subject in question is a tri five wonder bar. The goal is am/fm, blue tooth, hands free, mp3, SiriusXM ect.

There is a tiny circuit board that gets installed.
Basically like;

I upgraded the AM radio in my car with an Aurora FMC-1 FM board.  Basically, it adds FM and MP3 while retaining the entire AM circuitry.  FMR-1 turns the old chassis into a modern radio but requires gutting the old circuitry.  See Radio Upgrades.

Flat duck. Did that listing come from Amazon? eBay? It looks intriguing.
Fraser, thank you for the link. Chriscris, this is the route I have been looking at. The problem I have is “when is it enough”, in that if I am going to do this I would like Bluetooth and hands free ect as well.
Thank you all for the info. All good stuff. I hope I can get it all figured out.

I put a Retrosound Redondo in one of my Chryslers. Looks just like the factory radio using my original bezel and knobs but has dual USB inputs, aux in, Bluetooth. The built in amp is 25W per channel.

If you have a tri-five Chevy I'm sure they make a model that would look factory in your car.
