Simple question storing blocks / cranks
Permalink

Hey all . I have some blocks and cranks that I have to bag and store in my garage until my drag car , The Little gremlin , is sold

The cranks and blocks will be wrapped in heavy plastic and taped . BUT I need some tips on what I could aerosol spray them with to deal with rusting on fresh metal . I cant paint or thick grease the surfaces as potential buyers , Likely coming from The States will want to examine the blocks and cranks for stroker motor purposes .

I was thinking something like crown spray on undercoating but not sure if it would just run off .

Any tips ????? maybe desciant bags ???

Maybe a light coat of gear oil, should stick to the cylender walls, and can be wiped off for inspection and the reaplied, should not run off,I have stored some blocks for 30 years, put a coating of gear on them then some grease, they are still clean.

Hmmmm, 80/90 and its fairly clear too . I never thought of gear oil . I,ll try it . Thanks
My issue is I need the stuff to be easily visible . A buyer doesn't want to be standing around while I,m trying to clean cranks for inspection , Gear oil is a good idea .
Off to the Mighty Princess tomorrow

If you can find it, Gibbs is the best.

canadian tire

buy one can of rust check and some clear plastic leaf bags
problem solved

rust check also saved my 830 spread bore holley
throttle plate was I got the carb

sitting soaking in rust check in a pan for 4-6 months forgotten under my truck I now have a perfectly functional piece again

I also use it to help water proof/corrosion proof my electrical connections instead of grease

cleans off super easy
thin red film , if any
DOES NOT STINK but smells kinda sweet

no looking around for it .. it's at C-T and always in stock
