In BC, if you have a serial number the corporation will look it up to see if it has ever been registered in BC.
They trace it and if there are no records, they will register it for you.
For those looking for paperwork for you're old project there is another avenue you can take
If the vehicle has the vin tag. It is possible to get the vehicle transferred into your name .
1.You need to have a receipt for the amount you bought the vehicle for.
2. You need an appraisal on the value of the vehicle (some used car dealers)
3. You need the curb weight of the truck from the scales or dealership you're truck's make is from.
4. You need to write an affidavit at MTO
5. You need to have a search from the province the vehicle is from to see if it is registered or stolen. ( Computer system Only searches back to the 80's)
6. $20 sellers package
7. Pay the Taxes, pay the transfer fee,
8. Start the process of getting your new project insured and licensed

The guy that was mentioned above with ownerships for sale usually has a site at Barrie automotive flea market in September.
Last time I saw his table was a few years ago in the blue field.
The people who run the show may know how to contact him.
