my fastest was a 68 hemi road runner and not by a lot. the most funnest was a 66 nova s/s with a 327/350hp plus, both 4 spds.  around town, peterboro, down george and up water streets lite to lite the deuce would of blown the doors off the runner but on the the south service rd or on the curve lake road in the 1/4 the hemi would of won, but not by a lot.  the nova would of jumped the hemi out of the hole by a lot but the hemi would of come on like a freight train from 3rd gear up. i was just thinking about that while reading the ad for the convert g.t.o. and where it would of fit into the big picture of cars i have had over the years.

most of us would of had a something that made memories for speed and a grin and with a little luck, both.  lol

My fastest was a Canadian 56 Pontiac, 300 hp 4sp back in the 80s . It was noisie, it rattled and clunked.
It smelled of gas,oil and smoke and I loved it.  Not a show car but man it was fun . I guess the funnest was a
62 Austin850(mini) It never started ,I had to push start it more often than not, thank gawd it was so small
My wife called it that little tin box. It was awful, even after I sold it ,it wouldn't go away as the guy I sold it to
never changed it over and I kept getting parking tickets for a month. We laugh now but not back then. Ed

you are lucky guys having pics of some of these cars to go with the memories. the runner was my first new car bought in 68 and dad had to co/sign the loan. back in those days the bank sent the paper work home with me for him to sign and i can remember as if it was yesterday him saying, "i am not signing for no god dam hot rod" and me telling him it is not. it has a v8 but not a hot rod. mom was saying he is putting 1/2 the money down, 2000.00, let him buy what he wants he works full time. i had started driving truck by then hauling quaker oats products out of petbo. had the car until the 2nd time i spun a crank bearing, about 1-1/2 years, and horse traded it with a spun bearing into the 66 nova for the balance of the bank loan.
gotta ask the kids if they have some pics of some of the old cars i had. i know they have some pics of some of the old trucks i drove, maybe a car or 2.

My fastest car was my 68Z28. Ordered it new the fall of 67. Just a cheapy model with options of a radio, and spoilers. Got it with 4:10 rear end. A real dog til you hit about 4500rpm, and then it would come alive. It would rev 8500 any time you needed it, and was the only car that would redline in high gear. My 65 Chevelle 300hp/4 speed was more fun on the steer with a lot more low end torque

73 1/2 Gremlin X 401 amc 727 100 to 200 shot 10.80 on 10 inch bias ply fastest
77 hornet amx 360,s and 401,s 9 inch ford top loader 11.90 , street car fun to drive partly cause nobody knew what the h$ll it was
1970 pontiac strato chief 2 dr hdtp ( chevrolet chassis not American ) 350 sbc w 3 on the tree converted to floor shift IIRC 3960 lbs with me in it 16.66 at 88 mph in second gear , no point shifting to third as it was just 30 feet from finish line fun to drive cause it was black with huge chrome bumpers and people would give you lots of room in traffic .
56 chev short box step side w 331 cid 327 muncie 85 mph in third gear , at 105 mph hood would start to jump and rattle , would stop at about 115 at 120 mph it would sway about 1 1/2 lanes on400 / 401 in certain lanes . I drove it everywhere
1972 vauxhall firenza sports coupe sbc w a glide . It would blaze the rear tires so bad it was a pain to drive , but funny . You could drive in reverse at like 3 grand , slam it into low and stand on it it would still go back wards just smoking the tires off . Good times good times on 13 inch tires . It couldnt even move on rain days ha ha

it would of been a lot more profit in today's dollars. i know a couple of guys in the states who collect original big block vettes and when they get talking prices they have paid and sold for i just listen as it's over my head. they were a big deal when they came out with that much h/p.  i had a ride in one a couple of times back in the day and they were a rocket.
