If anyone is starting a project on a channeled model A Tudor and wondering where to store the battery, I looked all around under there and it seems to me that the only place to hide a full size battery is behind the passenger or driver seats under the floor. Especially if you plan to bag your ride and need a place for the air tank above the floor behind the seats. Anyway, I took some photos to help anyone out. I saw photos of the Tucci model A and they mounted their battery in the same place as mine but I framed mine in underneath where they framed their battery in on top with a narrow flat plate below to hold the battery securely in the upper portion. I used 2 square tubes welded to the frame and slid 2 smaller tubes inside the first 2 so the height could be adjusted. I welded the second two to the battery frame I made. Then I just slide the two narrow tubes up into the wider ones and bolt them in place with a small length of chain added just in case my welds fail (cause I'm learning to weld). I have a small removable panel in the floor above so I can lift the battery up to take the weight off the box so I can remove it when necessary for winter storage. The only down side of course is that I have to jack the car up to install / remove the battery from beneath. But it's worth it. Hope that helps somebody.
if my truck wasn't a rust bucket now it would have one as the big bad lead/acid battery mounts way up high on the inner fender over the passenger wheel.. losing 40 pounds right there could only help it turn and ride better
I had considered moving it under the truck like your mounting but .. eah , if I need to boost it I probably don't want to be crawling under it in the moment as it's likely , cold , dark or wet when that happens .. because "life" and my running boards are at curb height I ain't gettin' under it .. hell the floor jack barely fits lol
my turbo 2,2 omni will receive one stuffed up in the cowl top when it gets built ..it'll fit in , on it's side (I need to make space in the engine compartment by relocating the battery )

I guess I should have taken a photo above the floor behind the seats too. I have an access panel about 9" x 6" which allows me to lift the weight of the battery off the 'box' so I can crawl under and remove or install the battery but that access panel also allows me to boost if necessary. Awkward ? Yes, but it works.
