My friend with the 46 Chevy pickup wants to set his motor aside until he can get the mounts and stuff set up on the frame.  Does he have to buy an engine stand or can he set it on a pallet  with blocks or something ? Stupid question ? I am just trying to save him a few bucks as he puts his ride together. Thank you.

Get a piece of 2 x 10 x 10' and make a 4 sided box.  Better yet, throw 4 casters on it and you can move it anywhere you want because you will want to.

throw a couple of tires on the floor with no rim's on and set the motor on them. cheap way but not really user friendly. lol

If you have access to a shopping cart,, wink, wink, nudge ,nudge, they convert very easily to an engine stand and they are quite manoeverable.

Some of these engine stands don't work very well with inline engines.
