I know I should be finishing my distributor install but I got sidetracked somehow. I think I was cleaning out the garage because I lost a part and found some scrap metal I forgot I had. Next thing I know, I'm setting the welder for different thicknesses of metal and hard at it for a day or two designing, measuring, cutting, welding and painting. When I go to shows people want to know things about the rod that I forget so now I don't have to remember since it is all on the list. I guess it took a weekend from start to finish but I still want to paint the portion that goes under the tire black. The yellow paint is still a bit too fresh to put under the tire. I hope it isn't pretentious. I just love working with metal. I guess this means I have to get back to cleaning the garage and workbench now.
The top portion looks like chrome on the reverse & it comes from an old bar-b-q. The base is 10 gauge (or was it 6 ?) scrap left over from a battleaxe I made and the rest is just scrap from ... something else I guess.
I'm guessing it is a beam or you wouldn't be asking. I am still learning all this stuff. The info board is the info I was given when I bought the rolling chassis. It doesn't look straight to me but that's what I was told by the seller. If I listed it incorrectly, plmk. Something else to learn. Thank you Jarvis1
Not pretentious at all Jim, I think it looks really nice. The only downside I can see is you'll be talking to less people. ( My wife tells me I like to talk...to anyone......about anything)
Looks like a pretty decent fabricating job to me. Well done and carry on. When it comes to hot rodding you will never stop learning. On this site theres always someone who can help with problems so all you have to do is ask.
Thank you 51 Styline. I should drop my distributor in tomorrow and then start putting together the plug wires WUGA was so kind to find for me. I bought the ratcheting crimping tool and watched a video from Hagerty. Now just a little confidence and I'm sure I'll finish that up too. Any trouble and I know I'll find the answers here.
