In '69,'70 and '71 while in high school. I ran pie crust slicks on my Falcon daily driver. They had a few cuts in them for treads but the bare minimum. Made by a company called NEWBY I think they were north of London. They had a tire shop on Wharncliffe Road. They tires looked cool but the rubber on them wasn't very sticky.

Newby retreads were in Exeter. they were cool looking
It did hurt for a day or two.... Then I had to order headers and steering column. So the tire cost was soon forgotten. Now on the car. Had to drop the rear a tad. But that only took a minute or two.
