I bought an overflow and a temperature gun to keep an eye on the temperatures, especially since the gauge in the truck doesn't work. So come Spring, I think I'm all set. Thank you all for all your support !

You mentioned you had a valve job, where the head gaskets installed properly ?
If install upside down, you will have a overheating condition.

Thank you hot rod Ron. We got the overheating issue solved. In the 42 it was a faulty gauge and in the 29 it was a faulty switch. I am learning that in the hobby, every fix, simple or hard, is a lesson to remember.
