Model 'A' trunk space

I recently converted an old fire extinguisher into a space to store a tow cable because inside a 29 Tudor, there isn't a lot of space to store anything.  My gas tank is under the rear window so I have a bit of space on either side of the tank but just enough for a jack & a tarp.

I didn't add a nozzle, hose and tap handle in case I'm in an accident and 1st responders think the bottle is full of anything that could be hazardous. Please let me know if this idea is dumb or good. It was fun to make. In the process of making it, I learned a bit about nitrous oxide systems in cars.

I read a few years ago where a home owners house burnt down as they could not get water out of the fire hydrant. The house next door had an old hydrant out front for decoration so guess what. The guy got sued for the cost of the house by the insurance company. Just of interest.
I think if the fire department sees that bottle they will be taking some sort of precaution not knowing if it is real or not. Like wait behind their truck waiting for the big bang while your car burns.

A quick fix would be a can of Spray paint and a 'TOW STRAP"" sticker.

Or I just remove it and come up with another stupid idea. Maybe this isn't my hobby after all.

Or put a single hinge on bottom , lower side of bottle and put one , over center tool box style clasp on top side , and maybe just a light touch of some other colour to make the seam between cap and bottle look more obvious
Or change sticker to .... NNAAAWWWSSSS !!!!!!!
Thats a direct quote from fast n furryious , including vin diesel lisp

it is a neat idea and a good way to store the tow strap but i think the tricky part was imitating a nos bottle.  it is illegal in ontario to have a nos system connected and if perchance there was a fire and they seen it bolted there their reaction may be quick to flock off away from it not knowing it wasn't real and not hooked up.   it is a neat use of the bottle but the austetics to it could have consequences is all.  take your time and smoke a big fatty or 2 or 3 good double hits, i prefer grey goose myself, lol   and come up with something to make it into.  there is a girl down here who is more than capable of painting and drawing anything you want on it and her prices are reasonable for the quality.  if i am not mistaking it i think chris stapley on here is quite capable to alter the appearance of that into anything you come up with after your fatty also.  he may even enjoy a hit or 2 of the goose also..   lol

it is a neat idea, don't beat yourself up about it bud.  i remember way back when you started into this car craze on here someone mentioned there is a lot of trial and error in this hobby bud and they were right.  you only learn more that way and you will have a tendency to remember more right ways than wrong.

Thank you both. I lose a lot of sleep with this hobby. Either too excited or too discouraged. I will remove or repaint it. I guess I should run stupid ideas through this forum before building them.

Yeah Chris is a great painter but that's another aspect of this hobby I had hoped to practice and improve at. I have brushes and paint. Pinstriping looks like fun. He is soooo talented.

I stress a lot when I get into engine stuff but I really enjoy banging metal. I think I'll try fabricating a different rad shell next. The best part of this hobby is the nice people I meet online and off. Thank you again.

Stop asking permission for every idea. Just build it your way and when it f**ks up, you have learned something and now you have another opportunity. After five years on this car, you have every right and I think talent to build it your way.

I have to say, I couldn't agree more Warren, don't ask for permission, ask for a hand occasionally if you
can't figure it out, otherwise its not your hobby, its someone elses...

you know how you used to get a glass mason jar with flip over lid , with a wire , over centre clasp on it , like that for the lid on the naaaawwwwzzzz slash tow strap bottle

And also unless your car is locked away in your garage and your outta town or on vaca , most time a vehicle catches fire the owner is close to it . You can just tell the authoritae or firemen that the bottles fake . Most garage fires theres so much combustibles in around car / vehicles  garage burns to ground anyways . Re reading this , the post sounds a little depressing , but basically do what you want , have fun and make the lid of bottle so it looks like theres no way it could contain pressure and carry on
