I am looking for a locksmith in Belleville/ Trenton area,I bought a steering column for my 1986 Ford Bronco project without a key and every forum that I have read said you need to drill out the lock cylender to get it to turn to get the pin to move,so if anyone has had this  problem or if you know of a locksmith in our area,it would be very appreciated, Thanks

Can you not just pull steering wheel, lock plate ,turn signal switch to expose the lock tab on the cylinder to remove the cylinder whole and have it repaired at key shop.

The problem is the cylinder needs to be in the run position to remove the pin, like a GM,so with no key I have been reading that you need to bust the chrome part of the cylinder off,the drive a screwdriver in and twist, sounds something I had to do in the 80s,we weren't to worried about destroying the column in those days, lol,I found a guy in Belleville named Mr.Gorden locksmiths,

If I remember correctly, there's a pin that has to drop in. You can drill or punch that pin.
I don't think gordens is open weekends. PM me, I may be able to help. I'm in Belleville]

Have you tried to "PICK IT" so you can turn it to RUN?

I'd give that a go even it takes a few days.

Have you searched youtube for a video on how to R&R . I just punched it in and a video came up for a 92 F150 cylinder R&R. That one was a breeze. If yours is the same its like 10 or 15 minutes.

Well update,I received the column today and low a behold the key was missing and the tumbler was able to turn, meaning someone must have had a go at it before,so I turned it forward and just below the cylinder is a push button, and out pops the cylinder, I wish GM had the same idea,if ya"ll know what I mean,so thanks to all the replys from you guys.

My 58 ignition has the pin you push in when the key is turned to the ACC or ON position and the cylinder comes out.
