A good friend of mine bought a 1960 Lincoln with a 430 engine. He was pretty excited to get a car in such good shape for such a good price. When he picked it up, the keys were missing....... Hmmm. Anyway, back at home, it appears that someone may have left a valve cover off for a decade or two. One of the pushrods has actually rusted through. Does anyone know of a 430 engine or parts that might be up for sale? These are pretty rare beasts, the cylinder heads are totally flat and the combustion chamber is actually a 15 degree wedge on the deck of the block. Can't imagine how you would even bore one of these things? Merry Christmas to all by the way!
Just for the heck of it I checked out Rockauto. They have a listing for the parts and the prices are decent. $13. dollars and change for 4 pushrods. Gaskets and more is listed as well. I didn't go any deeper, but there is a listing for a whole whack more. Check it out.
The parts are not too bad to get for it, but 10 years of water has had its way with the block. I can sleeve the lifter bores, replace cam, bore the block and get new pistons but his "low buck" project is gonna need a bank roll. Even a rust free car with pristine interior is gonna have a limited value once its done.
There was a day when I could visually see the difference between 10 and 15 degrees. Apparently, those days are gone, my bad!
Sorry, I misunderstood what I thought you misunderstood.
Carry on.
LOL, its actually a sore point with me, I've worn glasses all my life, never bothered me. Can still see clearly but the "sweet spot" of vision seems like a narrow window now. Welding for instance has become an aggravation. Glasses off, my face is in the smoke plum, glasses on i have trouble seeing the puddle clearly cause I have to move my head three feet back. Anybody found a solution? I think back to how I laughed when they offered Fred Flintstone a prescription windshield. Now I'm thinking that it was a great idea!
