heim joint

I think it is called a heim joint.  I managed to loosen the bolt at both ends and one bolt was easy to get out.  The other turns ok and even the large washed I managed to turn but that bolt just won't come out.  I eventually turned the Panhard bar off the heim joint at that end.  I'd still like to get that joint off so I can clean it up and grease the nipple.  It's in a tight corner of the frame so hard to get tools at it.  No space for a hammer.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you.

2CD3887E-B1D9-43C0-BA6D-9EFF013FF399.jpegFor anyone needing to know how to get a bolt out in a tight space, this is what I made.  I welded a bolt close to the length of space I was confined to working in to a small flat plate.  Then I welded a washer to a nut that fits on the bolt.  To use it, I place the finished tool in the space with one end against the frame and the other end against the bolt I am trying to force out of the heim joint.  I make it finger tight so it will stay in place.  Then I turn the nut welded to the washer and sure enough, the force was enough to push out the problem bolt.  Took about 5 minutes to get everything in place and 2 minutes to lossen the bolt. Hope that helps somebody in future. I think I'll keep that tool handy. I redid the threads on the heim joint and oiled both ends.  Good as new except the grease nipples won't come out. I'll have to see if they still function. Good luck all.

I got the zerks (grease fittings) out and researched them. It turns out that they are a metric K-18-CSBA and are designed with no ball in them. I can pass a pin straight through them. But if I try to grease the heim, the grease spreads out around them so I don't know if they are functioning or if the heim is just full. I think I will see where I can buy new heim joints just in case and price them. Getting closer to completion but every little thing seems uncooperative.
