Does anyone here have any experience with label makers ? I plan to rewire my whole damn car and I'm guessing some label makers are better suited to the task than others. Do they take different sized heat shrink ? Do they run out of ink fast ? Just wondered if anyone knows what brand works best. Not buying a finished harness because I already have all I need for a panel and besides, I'd rather do it myself than have Painless do it. Any thoughts ? Might still go with Rebel Wire but all I need is quality wire. Hmm, where to buy good wire ?
By the time you buy the terminals, the wire, the label maker and what ever else you will need, This will seem inexpensive. This is the setup I used in Dog Spit. It was great and I used the all black wiring kit. www.dolphingauges.com/product-page/ez-wiring-21-standard-wiring-harness Go with the 21 circuit, even if you don't use them all, you never know what the future holds. Be sure you have a good crimper. Warren

Thank you Warren. I have an excellent crimper but not sure what kind of connecters it is for. Checking out the wire harness you sent now. Why all black ? Wouldn't white be easier to see and read ?
Why would anyone want white wiring showing in their engine bay? Warren PS: it is white printing on black wiring
yeah, you are pretty much right warren. i always hated wiring stuff but those kits made it easy, sort of thingy.. X2, why have all white wiring under the hood.
You have a knack for putting things bluntly Warren, so even idiots like me can sort things out. I have a knack for always choosing the wrong stuff. I thought I'd wrap the wire in that non-adhesive black tape but I'm probably wrong about that too ? So much to learn. Greasy Boy Customs says he hates the plastic sleeves commonly used because it holds fluids that can damage wires. I ordered the harness you suggested Warren for a little under $300. Cdn. total.
The lettering will wash off the wire, so be careful to not do this until you are done. Lay out all your wiring in an orderly manner and then when that is done, bundle it with cable ties every 6 inches. If you have to go through metal, make sure there is a rubber grommet in the hole. The wires are already pinned to the fuse panel, so you only worry about the other end. Find a nice mounting spot that you can access the fuses and preferably make the fuse panel detachable from its' mounting so you can access it from the rear if necessary. If you are able to remove the cowl top, that is even better. There are lots of connectors in your current wiring, stay away from those. The fewer crimps the better. If you have to make in line connections, use bullet connectors with the female on the hot or fuse side. I hope the next picture looks prettier than the last. You'd better get some heat in that garage to do this finicky work.
Writing out your instructions and thank you. My Ezwire harness should be here Friday they said. Here is a photo of my crimper. It clicks and locks but I have never used it yet. Just standard connecters to buy from Amazon I guess. I might come and borrow your spare heater Warren. I get the impression it isn't hard to wire, it just takes a long time. Especially if I solder every connection. I'll have to practice soldering first.
I just copied out your instructions into my workbook. If you think the wiring looked messy, that was the driver side. The passenger side is still horrendous even after I tried to clean it up. I took out a whole bunch of wires that weren't connected at either end ! All the wiring is cheap Princess Auto of the same gauge so I will be more than happy to make things correct.
When you are finished wiring remove all those tie wrap things.
Then wrap the wires with anything but electric tape. Which will
loosen when it gets warm. (some brands)
I saw some stuff that looks like black electrical tape but it isn't sticky. I think that is what I am supposed to use to wrap any collection of wires, right ?
