I recently bought a 2010 Silverado 2wd  and it has a clunk that I can't figure out where it is coming from. I always thought it was the strut extending and the spring making the clunk.

At first I had the ball joints checked , replaced the sway bar links and then replaced the struts... My wife says she can feel it under her feet and the odd time it happens on the driver's side too under my feet.

It seems to do it when taking off when the suspension squats in the rear and the front lifts.

Have any of you came across this issue and have solved the annoying clunk?

bolted to the frame with a rubber mount on the tranny tailstock.

Perhaps if you go back and read the comment I posted with a joking attitude . you would realize that I was poking at people trying to get rare items for nothing.

I vend at many swap meets and see it all the time .

If you have a problem with my post? then that's your problem.... not mine.

the clunk in a gm is often the slip joint in the steering shaft - a well known issue
sounds like it is coming from the front end unless you hit a good bump and then it sounds like rear ward somewhere.
they make a new shaft for it - but a simple fix is to remove it - drill and tap for a grease nipple and then grease the thing - no more bump bang

I have fixed two of them on my trucks over the years.

Huh, that's odd, I don't have any feeling in the steering wheel . and it sounds like the clunk is coming from the right side in the toe board area . the odd time under the left side I may have to bring it to a different shop with guys who will look for it rather than throw parts at it.

If I had a shop with a drive on hoist I could chase it but I don't.... It may be ; a body mount, transmission cross member, exhaust hitting the floor,  motor mount, transmission mount, bushings in the control arms, loose sway bar, rear leaf spring slap , crack in the frame....

Maybe  all of them or some... The transmission lines were replaced just before I bought the truck so that's drawing my attention to the cross member or something hitting the floor.

But the steering shaft was most likely my clunk in the steering of my 03  Z71. Thanks.

Anyone following this thread... Now that the cooler weather is here the clunk seems to be less , so that makes me think it may be bushings in the control arms.... It's hit and miss.
You listen for it and then when you don't expect it, then it will clunk.
I like the truck... Black 2wd, regular cab, short bed with a 5.3 also been well under coated over the years (which may have caused a bushing or mount issue) .....But this (or these) clunks have me scratching my head.

I'm a bit obsessed with trying to pin it down unlike all the cop shows this mystery is taking longer than an hour to solve.

Another place that is very hard to pinpoint ( searched for a long time on my wife's Chrysler Pacifica) is the actual sway bar mounting rubbers, they look good but get hardened and will make a really harsh clunk like steel on steel...

That makes sense... I'm adding that to the list of mounts to look into.
Sway bar mount .
Thanks
