So talk at the local shows and cruse nights seems as you would expect

to center around the stolen vintage/hotrod situation but something else

seem to be getting notice is the influx of project vehicles for sale. Just wondering

if it is actually a thing or just normal . If it is actually a thing, I would wonder what

would be he cause . Are people no longer doing projects due to finances or lost

interest or as some are saying the new certification regulations due soon? Ed

Perhaps, some people have taken on a project that once started, they find it is beyond their capabilities.

There's a lot to unpack here.
I believe multiple factors at work. Everyone is getting older, and more guys getting out than in.
Covid put the market in a frenzy, prices for toys of every description went through the roof. No new product, so old stuff became valuable. Gov't handing out money like gum drops, interest rates at historic lows. Sellers made out like bandits. People bought this stuff and now can't afford to finish or start them.
How many guys do you know bought several projects 10, 20 or 30 years ago, and never touched them? Now they have no money, and the body ain't willing.

Just my 2 cents. (if that's still a thing)

Yeah I've gone the bike route as well. Less space and can ride all weekend on $25. The Nova was $25/hour. I also find it more sociable. Meet a group in the AM and ride all day. The cleaning and maintaining is WAY easier as well.

As for project vehicles I think end of season and not wanting to Winter store play a part. Can't park a project on your driveway in a residential neighborhood any more. We would re and re motors on the driveway. Work on it all night and then test it out with no front end on it trying to get the front wheels off the ground and nobody would blink an eye. Now you would face the wrath of the local FB Karen's calling you in because you are a menace and a disgrace to the neighbourhood.

I am a little of all of it - no time or energy for projects, loss of interest, lack of funds with the excessive prices of parts these days, and I am getting older too lol.
I have contemplated selling all of my vehicles a few times over the last few months.
Not sure what I would do with myself - but endless hours in the shop isnt it anymore.

I got 6 new Firestone 700/19 wide white tires from Universal Tire. Price of tires, $ exchange, shipping and tax was over $6,200. Had them ordered over 2 years ago and finally got them this past Dec. How can anyone justify say the hobby is getting too expensive.
I do have my old ones for sale if anyone is interested!!!!!!!
