I have a 42 Ford pick up with a door that will not lock. I made a tool that allows me access to the base of the handle but when I push back the spring loaded mechanism, I can find no screw that allows me to remove the handle from the door interior. Please advise. I need access to the door lock from the inside.
Should be a pin that goes through the handle and shaft. It's a square shaft IICR. You have to push the escutcheon back to reveal it. IIRC correctly, it's been a while since I've seen one.

Thank you Lightspeed Mike. I hope to finally meet you on Sunday at k5. Through both handle & shaft. & square shaft IICR (?). I will push the escutcheon back again to see what it reveals.
I was separating the esctucheon from the door panel but it appears I should separate it from the handle. I will try that next. That looks like a great site to bookmark. Thank you again Marten.
I'm not positive with the ford, but the ring or echelon at the base of the handle will have a cone shaped spring behind it . Push the ring toward the door panel to reveal the hole which the pin or barrel clip goes through the shaft of the handle... It may even have a cotter pin in there if someone has been in there already. Hopefully this clears up any dilemma you may have removing the handles or cranks.
I would think your car will have the same type of interior door handles/ cranks also.

It's a great site. Lots of Ford info from all forms of Ford trucks. I visit it normally once a day. The guys are super helpful. And if someone gets out of line, watch out they will get eaten up fast.
In response to 30 S6, no, my model 'A' window crank handles aren't quite the same (see image) as in my 42 LoL. And I am still too busy clearing away logs and brush from the storm but when I finally have time, I hope to try moving the spring toward the door panel instead of away from it and see just what sort of pin or drum I have to deal with. Once I get the handle off, maybe I can remove the panel and fix my door lock and that will free up my time so I can finally install my temporary fuel sending unit so I can finally tell how much gas is in my tank until I get my gauge cluster fixed which will eventually give me the opportunity to get back to my hot rod so I can carry on re-wiring. GEEZ ! Who ever said retirement is boring with nothing to do ? (I am so fond of my model 'A' window cranks - functional and provide an extra at hand tool for breakdowns)
Yup! The small round clip is on the other side of where I was looking. I just pulled the spring in the wrong direction. Thank you everyone. Now what tool to use to get that little thing out of there ? Hmm ?
Also called an elastic pin or roll pin. (I did some research) Now I know what it is, I can get the right tools for the job. Cool. Thank you again Pugsy

Sorry I called it a barrel clip... Most likely sending people down a rabbit hole only to find out rabbits aren't in that hole .
Anyway glad you have other people on board to help... a "blunt" nail with out a point may do the trick if not? happy rabbit hunting.

Thank you 30 S6. Not at all. They have all kinds of names. I am learning the jargon as well as techniques here. It is all part of the learning process. I appreciate your kindness.
When I finally found the roll pin (thanks to all here), I thought, how will I ever get that out because it appeared to me to be wrapped around an even smaller pin. My mistake (I hope). What I perceived to be a smaller pin is just the darkness of the pin's interior roll. If all goes well today, I shall punch the little roll pin out, remove the handle and be on my way to repairing the door lock. There isn't a lot to steal in the cab of a 42 other than the whole truck so I better get the lock repaired. I live in a tiny little hamlet out in nowhere and recently, we had a bank robbery by 3 kids from Brampton. One was 16, one was 17 and last last is still to be hunted down. What amazes me is that they even knew Keene had a bank or that Keene is on the map. Crime is getting close these days so I better fix that lock pretty soon. Someday, I hope to get back to working on the rod.
Got the pin out. Made a small punch. Looked inside. No idea how to see if the mechanism is connected to the lock. Pretty dark and narrow in there. I will work on it more today. Put oil in the lock maybe ? Maybe just reach in and feel around to 'see' if something has disconnected somewhere. I joined the Ford Truck Enthusiasts site. Might be helpful in the future. Thank you Marten.
