looking for a shop to repair my 42 instrument cluster. Speedo is seized and fuel gauge unreliable. Found a shop already that cost me over $300 to tell me what I already knew - fuel gauge and speedo don't work. Looking for a shop that actually fix things.

Sorry, but curious how this is possible.
You "these are broke, can you fix them?"
Them: "they are broke. That will be over $300.00 please.....and no, we don't know how to fix them...."
Yeah, it came as a bit of a surprise. I knew the speedo didn't work. They told me it was seized. And the gas gauge ? I forget what they said. I just know it doesn't work. The needle floats all over the place. I don't like to argue so I pay and never go back. I thought it was a good place but I guess not. There is so much to learn with this hobby. I'll take the cluster out in the fall and find someone to fix it over winter. (I hope)
How are you doing Pugsy ?

Health is up and down, with some weird stuff going on now and then.
Thank you Warren. $400 US plus shipping might be less than a repair, you're right (of course). But I will wait until Fall when I take it out. That way they can take all winter. I won't care. Looked through my OLD AUTOS but no adverts for cluster repairs. I'll look online. No rush yet. Yes my cluster looks like that one so I will keep it saved on my Mac.
I took the truck to a guy in town who does a lot of custom work and races drags. Thompson automotive on Armour road. Nice people but I won't go back. They did the switch from 6 to 12 volt previously. They usually know their stuff I think. That's the 2nd shop I've been to that really disappointed me. It gets expensive when they don't even fix anything. These are expensive lessons.
