I need to cover my 42 pickup for winter but all the covers now are made for crew cabs and short boxes. Can anyone tell me where to get a good soft cover to protect a classic pickup from winter weather ? Thank you
There was a company "California Car Covers".
I don't know if they are still around.
Or.... you can cover the truck with old bed sheets and comforters then put a tarp on.
Plastic tarps are junk. Buy a good canvas tarp.
Probably a guy that makes marine covers could make you one to fit. I'm not sure what fabric what would be the best to use . I had a California Car Cover 35 years ago for a 55 Chev and it was the best. They are still in Business and sold by Beverley Hills Motoring Accessories . Sit down when you look at prices today. beverlyhillsmotoring.com/collections/car-covers
I had a huge sheet of thick plastic like they use to cover boats and without really giving it much thought, I cut a pattern to fit and sewed the whole thing to fit and it fit perfectly. Then my neighbour reminded me that moisture would be trapped inside. I wasted a lot of time on that. So now I'll sit down, as you recommend, and look at California covers. No harm in looking. Thank you RWW.
The covers from Car Covers allow water thru. Then dust settles on top and it goes thru as well.
This is a real pain when a guy doesn't have indoor parking.

I have a cloth cover I use all summer that fits loose. I could leave it on under the new CARCOVER I paid for last night. Maybe combined, the dust won't get through. Either way, I've done the best I can to protect my ride. If anyone else is thinking of buying from CARCOVER, be sure to use the 15 percent discount on the site. They phone to complete the order and don't include the discount on the phone so I made sure to order online.
Now I just have to remove the gauge cluster and cover the truck up. I'll have the gauges repaired over winter so the extra $30 I saved still goes to the truck. Thank you Jarvis and Pugsy and Poncho. A container would be nice but my wife would never allow it and gotta keep 'em happy. In her defence, she said I could build another garage. I'd rather spend my time working on the rod.
