Thought you would find this of interest. No wonder things are getting harder. This stuff is so fustrating. And no way to find out what is good/bad/ugly.
Counterfeit parts have been around for years. OEM parts, performance parts, you name it.
You really have to watch where you're buying from.
The old saying, if the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

On The Little gremlin drag car . Optima battery in back . Welder cable sized battery cables and still had hot restart problems , Like sitting in the staging lanes waiting for track crew to clean up the mess from another bullet proof gm 10 -12 bolt blowing up right offa the line . Just put a 9 inch in for petes sakes . I had been to some all AMC days in states . Hebron Ohio , Beaver Springs and asked guys what they were using for a mini starter . I bought the same one offa ebay . Still hot restart problems . WTF ???? I,m at hebron and there was a guy there with a lifted jeep running low 12,s . I asked him if I could slide under it and actually look at his starter . I dentical to mine . My Trini Chick says take a picture with your phone . We had a really good starter altenator rebuilder shop in Barrie . I took the starter to him and he tests it and check the numbers . Its a 4 cyl mitsubushi gear reduction starter with an adapter plate . Again WTF ??? Looking at the pictures the sticker wasnt quite the same on mine . Turns out I had bought a chinese knock off from ebay . I spent the extra bucks and bought one right from the starter company . Problem solved
Now a days there are countless knock off parts on internet . It sux
