If the roads are dry I'll be driving my heap. Not sure where "Hooterville" Ont is (I am assuming the Scarborough location is bringing "gangs and shootings" to mind ... not to worry though, the gangs seem to be moving east to Pickering and Ajax), but Markham/Finch (being somewhat general here, not knowing the exact location) is pretty much all industrial. I was just joking regarding the "will there be valet parking for rods" in one of my earlier posts ... I have no worries parking my car there, 'course, once you see my car you might have a better understanding why I am not worried ... It's not exactly a Ridler winner :)
I will do the usual though, lock the doors, turn the wheel, add the "club", and remotely disable the battery ... same as I do anywhere, just to be safe.
The only real metal reshaping experience I have is when I ran my '71 Mustang into the guardrail on the 401 years ago, that certainly changed the shape of the metal. I do have a LARGE tig (L-Tec)collecting dust in the garage, but am quite interested in seeing how metal is "manipulated" using the E-wheel, bead roller etc ... very much looking forward to this event.
I am looking forward to it as well. Learning new stuff is good. I actually lived in Toronto for about three years (DVP & 401) Worked for Liquid Carbonic at the time. My wife actually came from West Hill (southern end of Scarborough). I know the GTA pretty well, travel through it often, but am on guard a bit with the 35. The doors don't lock, no door windows (yet), Steering wheel is a quick release. Just don't want any goof-balls messing with our rides. If I can attend both days I may get a room rather than drive 2+ hours each way, which would pose another problem with the overnight parking thing. bla bla bla............ anyway back on topic. Really looking forward to meeting everyone and learning a thing or two from a skilled craftsman.

I have a good friend who I know would love to attend with me especially after he almost peed himself tonight when I showed him my collection of pieces for my ewheel and the great 48" foot shear that just landed in my garage... He has already told me he plays at Stonys garage (Oddball Kustoms) on his wheel and shot bag whenever he gets a chance.. Very interesting fellow who I'm sure you'd enjoy as a guest.... Chris.

I'll check it out as we get closer to the meet. I think we're close to the forty mark and it may be wise to cap it off there, but I'll probably end up capping it off at fifty later as more requests come in.
I see the event is for Apr 28 & 29. With this being a two-day event, I can't help but wonder if some of the attendees, who have to travel quite a distance, will only be able to attend on Saturday (hotel cost, family etc). I am not saying it won't be two days of fun and learning, I'm just thinking there might possibly be space for some Sunday only people. Thanks for putting this on by the way.

We'll get some Saturday only and some Sunday only participants for sure. You're right that there will be less on Sunday.
I'd hate to tell someone that there is only room on Sunday though as part of the fun is meeting up with everyone we spend time with online.
If you have room for one more, both days, I would sure like to attend. Had to leave it for a bit, just to make sure I was free that weekend. Thanks, Sniper.

The only car I have is my '56 which is far away in storage. I just had a guy on this site offer to help me pick it up. As long as everything goes okay with picking up my car I will be coming! Thanks a lot for everything!

Right on. Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the guys.
Now we just got to get Poncho convinced to go for a cruise and drop in.

Even if I can't get my car in time maybe I could take public transportation.

You'll just need basic safety stuff, gloves, hearing protection, etc.

Can everyone who replied to the thread let me know if you're coming and if you will attend Saturday, Sunday or both. Also how many friends will come as well.
I need to make sure the chuck wagon is fully stocked.
Reminder to bring/wear proper safety gear. Steel toe boots, gloves, eye protection and probably the most important is hearing protection. It gets real loud at times.

I'm in for both days, I'll bring what I can for tools. What time are you looking to start, need to know so I can decide if I have to stay over night Fri, or just leave early early Sat morning. Sniper

Hey Herc.
You could improve on your MIG skills if you bring along a MIG welder. We only run TIG in our shop.
It would be nice if someone could bring a portable MIG. I'd like to check the weld hardness that is created when welding sheet together.
I'm not 100% sure which days you're asking about. Saturday, Sunday or both?
Hey , just getting to know my way around this thing called a computer. Just heard about the metal meet and thought that I would get in touch with you and see if theres room for a shaper . Would bring a few things if that s okay.
Just a quick thank you to Pugsy for hosting the metal meet. I spent some time there Sat morning and Sun morning and found it really interesting. I didn't actually swing a hammer myself but really enjoyed watching the different techniques people were using and seeing the planishing hammer, english wheel (etc) in action was really cool. Time for me to find a tree stump and hit up Princess (the store not my wife) for a planishing hammer (and maybe an E-wheel). Again, really appreciate you opening your shop to your friends and some complete strangers and introducing me and several others to metal shaping.
Edit: I should clarify my earlier comment of "I didn't actually swing a hammer myself" for anyone who has not been to a meet ... I was offered the opportunity to grab a hammer and bend some metal (then move on to the machinery) numerous times, I chose not to "swing a hammer" myself because I wanted to learn as much as I could from watching and talking to others around me doing the metal shaping. Thanks again Pugsy and all the other participants ... I feel I learned a lot from this event.
