Playback is performing Saturday, Joe and Adrian from JB Racing have this 50's and 60's tribute band. Very Very good if you have not head them check them out noon to 4 then 6 to 10.
Had a blast at the show this Saturday... lots of cars, stuff to buy, and anything that goes with cars !! Awesome pinstriping setup there as well... if anyone wants to see pics, I have over 200 of them on my facebook..... here is the link.... enjoy !!
I went after dinner and ended up leaving about 10:30 pm. The band Playback are friends of mine and it tiurns out the promoter Pat is friends with band leader Joe of JB Racing. That means good time and I got the cool window decals with MegaSpeed logo I took over 400 pictures but no sense duplicating what everyone else has. I'll just post a few of my favourites.

So off we go to the show ,The Ganaraska Ratlers hit Toronto.Fat stax drivin The Boy shotgun and the 2old guys ,TJ.and me safely straped in the second seat.Boy that van was loaded down,Fatstax said he cleaned it but he just threw everything into the back.Got to the show and parked ,no problem this year.Inside and I could hardly waite to get in causeyou could see some of the rods from the gate.Paid the man, cost me double cause The Boy never has any money and he won't pass for 12 when he has 3days growth on his face(told him to shave befor we left).Got in and went to the pinstripers booth ,talked to Chris and some of the others and saw the super art ,that was worth the trip from Port Hope in its self. The black T in the first building was awsome probably my favorite of the show.Lots of cool rats and rods ,seamed like there was way more rods muscle cars and just plane cool cars this year and less of the tuners.Had to laugh at The Boy when he asked if we noticed that the old car section was laid back ,calm and easy to see the cars and the tuner section was noisie, cayotic, hard to concintrate on the cars with the girls in skimpy outfits trying to sell you stuff(he didn't seam to mind that part) .Felt very safe at the show cause Toronto cops had there 57 squad car there and there were 3or 4 other police style cars on desplay, but the best reason for my feeling of security was the fact that not only was the Batmobile there but so was the Green Hornets car ,super villans beware. The last thing we had to do was get Fatstax's picture taken with The Fonz, since he had been talking about it all day we wated while he stood in line .TJ and I were kind of chuckling at how excited he was .He kept saying "but its the Fonz".WE had a really good time and it was fun to get together and get the interest going again,I think we finished 4 cars on the way home.If you have not been to the show go cause it is a really good time and a great day with friends. Ed
made it down hi to the guys I met and back in Ottawa at 7:30 not a bad day at all. Seeing we started at 5am with six inches of new snow in our drive way this morning.

I just got in from the show. All I can say is WOW. I had a killer time, learned lots, chatted with all sorts of awesome people, painted myself up some stuff and saw some sweet rods. Lookin forwards to any pictures, I;ll try to put the few I got up tommorow.
I want to thank everyone I talked with at the show this weekend, I think Pat did an awesome job of revamping a dying horse, the show was excellent quality. Albeit a lot smaller than Detroit but the quality was every bit as good , the atmosphere was electric. Never saw or heard anyone cut it up all weekend, only saw folks smiling, taking photos and generally loving it.... Bravo to Mega Speed. Chevyboy ,glad you made it out, please listen to the hints and tips everyone gave you while there, Tramp is a great guy with years of experience under his belt and his seminars are really good once you listen to the seminar and not just Tramp,ha,ha... He has his heart exactly where it needs to be, he's a great guy with a passion to make everyone here a better painter..And this is exactly why One Shot paints has Tramp as their representative... I have learned that he is one of the best guys to know when you are looking for some honest advice regarding this skill set..Keep in touch and remember my Panel Swap in September. I will send out a notification throughout the summer to get your attention.
Chris.

Thanks Chris, learning is one thing I definatly did a lot of, well that and painting. I'll keep all that i've learned in mind and Tramps card in my box. I had a great time, and I have to agree with that fact that everyone seemed to have a hell of a good time. Lookin forward to many more panel jams and events like that. Now its off to the basement for more practice!
Chris - if you keep praising Tramp, his head may swell up and then his hair won't fit :)
This show, and others like it, is a great place to learn and practice techniques, whether it's striping or loading the brush. I think there were 50 people there this weekend and everybody does something a little different. I am still working on my lines, due to a lack of practice time, but I have learned other things I can use on my figure painting, such as mixing and thinning the paint.
One of the things I have done the past 5 years is to take photos of everyone at the booth and their various forms of art. Craig has most of them on a disc so he can show the artwork around. There are now 3 events like this where the artists get together and paint in public and I think there could be more invites in the future.
Now if only I could find a 28 hour day, I could find practice time :)
I was there on Sunday as a spectator. The crowd was a bit thinner which was good for photos, and I thought it was a great show, much better floor layout than before. Got to see Mike Holmes and the Fonze, and lots of really great cars and club displays, and lots of variety. Well done and congrats to the organizers and all of you who were participants. Looking forward to going again.
Here's some photos from Sunday. I was really impressed with the all the wild engines this year, and the displays. The "connecting rod" stanchions in the '33 Willy's display were really neat and the car itseld was spectacular. Lots to see (and lots not to see, like any car show) and well worth the trip.
megaspeed was great, although i dont know why they would have a posuer like holmes hosting the show, this is about hotrods and stuff, not drywalling your basement. anyways i didnt even see holmes there at all, i did get to meet the Fonz, which was the highlight of my day let me tells ya. tons of awesome rides.
The reason for Mike Holmes being there is the fact that he had two of his Deuce Roadsters in the show and I believe he is a close personal friend of the the new owner Pat. Oh yeah, according to the Rockabilly band, he likes to drink too,ha, ha...

Poser or not I dont know or care as long as the promoter makes enough money to keep the show going Im O.K. with Mike Holmes being there. Speaking of posers your O.K. THE FONZ a professional (poser) actor non rodder but have a issue with Holmes a rod owner? Like they say cant please every one.

Mike Holmes owns the two Deuce roadsters that were on display in the booth, one red and one blue. Both were built for Mike by the show owner, who also builds custom cars and hot rods in his spare time. That's the connection to Mike Holmes :)
Hey Picasso not really shure about Elvira how old is she now.Maybe we could add Linda Vaughn(Mrs Hurst Golden Shifter) woulden't that be some pair, pun intended! Ed

seems i was misinformed and on the rum when i wrote my post, i was brought up to speed so to say by flatblack55, seems mike holmes is a rodder and not just a renovator, i dont follow mike holmes or even watch tv for that matter. i didnt know those were his cars either. anyhow if a person like him is willing to promote the cause, more the better. now if he could only influence cops and such to stop hassling rodders, he would have my vote.
Personally, I dont see what rockabilly music and girls with tattoos have to do with hot rodding either...I guess it is just part of it these days..... if it helps the hobby, so be it.
Ever since I first attended a car show in 1963, there was always music, usually car related tunes from the Beach Boys, Jan&Dean, etc., and girls modeling. I like them all :)
There have been lots of musicians who collect cars from Billy Gibbons to Elvis and they add to the show.
Having a celebrity at a show often brings in more people whether it is the Fonz or some wrestling personna, like at Detroit. I didn't know who he was but there had to be 1000 people in line to meet him.
So, you probably wouldn't want to see Elvira at a show either, right? The last time she was in Toronto, the lineup was about 3 hours long each time she appeared, once on Friday, twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. That adds a lot to the gate, gives the vendors more customers and helps pay all the bills :)
In addition to telling us what you didn't like, tell us what you did like and what you think should be added to the show.
Did she ask you to peel out or to buy her some booze.Hey Sacotu what do you mean "older blond bomshell" were not talking Memi VanDorin or Dagmar here . Ed
I'm not an autograph-chaser but I got a kick out of it. American Grafitti is my all time favourite movie. She took the time away from making money charging for autographs to do this. Thought that was pretty cool of her. Not like her co-star, Cindy Williams. Chatted her up at the Plunkett show in London. That's a cold Hollywood dame for sure. Lets face it, Candy's here to make money, not friends. Mind you, I'd have her over for a barbeque at my place anytime. Well, when my wife's not home!
