I don't get as much time to dedicate to this as I'd like...but here is some of what I like to think of as artwork.

A pencil drawing for good measure

A wood carving I did of a '48 Ford 8N

Another sketch

They say you are supposed to "free the piece" from the wood you carve...this is what I saw and freed from this stick...which became a cane. Your guess is as good as mine...it's a guy emerging from the mouth of a snake...or maybe getting eaten?

One shot on a skateboard deck

and I like to mess around with sign painting...I just make **** up, "if it don't kill ya...it"ll cure ya" LOL

This was a neat little trip for me....makes me want to pick up my brushes again.

Thanks...would you beleive me if I told you I turned a piece of 2x4 into that in 3 nights? It was a gift for my father, who has my grandfather's '48 8N that he bought new, which I re-painted for him a few years back...matched set.

In progress,

I'd love to one day...when is the show? My problem is that I am very busy with work, and my three kids...I've never had the chance to actually learn from another striper or even see anyone else pinstripe much in person! LOL I'm sure I would learn a lot of valuable skills. I just decided a few years back that I wanted to paint lines....I've drawn all my life and dabbled in air brushing, painting and sign writing, so I went out and bought some brushes and one shot and dove in.

Talk to thrall...he organizes it ever year..it's march 9, 10, 11th. Some of the best stripers in the world come from southern Ontario...and most of them
Are pretty nice. We're all helpful, and happy to share tricks and secrets.

Is this the same as the old Speedorama? I saw everyone striping at that a year or so ago, Darren G had his booth set up on the other side of it.

Yes sir, exactly the same for us, just the show is under new ownership and some changes within the management as well.
Chris.

Oops, thought about this the second I clicked OK, ad it was Performance World, not Speedorama...
That was at the CNE grounds. This would go back to the days of Dizzy Deans Motion Car Show I think going back far enough.

Ahh yes...preformance world. It was at the international center I think. All I really remember is that "Ick" was painting something over in the booth with Darren, and the rest of the striping crew were working away at the tables around the other side....I bet you were there Chris, I had my daughter with me and her attention was slim....ended up leaving her with my mother and father in law with their corvette/club for a bit while I wandered the show.

Some accent shadding added. I typically don't pre draw my striping lines...I feel like I cheated on this and I still didn't get it perfectly symetical...but then again I think perfect sucks.

I did not finish it, never thought about selling it as I have always intended to see it through. I'd have to think about that.

Thanks for your interest.

Some paint I slopped on my beer fridge in the garage (1954 ADMIRAL)

Beer fridge apr 2013.jpg

I'm going to remove the pinstriping I did on it about 8-10 years ago for some fresh (read more experienced) lines. I painted the flyinng eyeball over the last two nights.

Thanks Chris! Undecided on what to do with the chair yet, but I think I'll keep it for now. I take it as a compliment that you would actually want it in you home though! LOL

Glad you noticed that Chris, as I did not "distress" the chair after painting it, the chair and paint is as I bought it from the "Restore".
