I dont care how any one builds there car its not mine and if I dont like it thats fine its not mine. The truck in question was for sale and the owner did ask if would find a home faster with a different look. My sarcastic answer was resell red will be a faster sale. Not because I like red I dont. I like the truck the way it is but may be a harder sell.

I thought I would ask a question that started on the 66 stepside thred.A 66 chev stepside evidently in very good condition is offered for sale for around $7000 to me a reasonable price. Some comments were" needs a lot of work", and "the phoney patina isn't cool".So the question I would like to throw out there is this .One guy likes the build style of the rat rod so he builds a truck to the style he enjoys and makes a nice condition truck look like an old ratty one,How is this any different than the guy who likes the look of a 32 coupe and buys a fiberglass body builds a frame installs a brand new crate motor and calls it a 32 coupe.which one is fake the 66 truck is older than the the 32 coupe in reality. The coupe was built to the likes of the owner so was the truck so which one is the fake.In my opinion who cares they are both fakes but built to there owners wants, tastes, wishes, ability ,and income and in my opinion, what anyone else thinks couldn't matter less. What do you guys think.  Ed

I know my truck isnt fake....Its getting pretty ratty and the rust is real...I know I should fix it, but just dont have the ambition right now...I will...maybe

That said....to each his own...I wouldnt put down either of those vehicles as long as it makes the owner happy.

It is what the owner enjoys. It's like the purists cutting up the hot rodder, it's his vehicle let him enjoy it. That is the reason I don't enjoy putting a vehicle in a judged local car show, anything modified has to be accepted by the person judging and if not what they like is judged as better. It's like not appreciating a Chev because your a Ford guy or foreign car because it wasn't made here. We all have ideas, some good, some bad but if you close your eyes to them you may miss something that could make yours better. Some hate this Rat Rod craze but as long as they are safe they can look cool. Nostalgia guys hate the rat rods but at one time they were hated for cutting up vintage tin. At some point there will always someone cutting up your pride and joy, just wave and say"it's not for sale"

Flatblack55delivery, have to agree that the fiberglass, crate engine, billit...... 32, is way more "Fake" in the purist sense.
Me, I dig anything that a guy can put together or buy if he doesn't have the means, and make it safe, fun to drive, something he enjoys. I have things to make everyone else happy. If someone else likes it great, if not, no problem. I canappreciatee the aftermarket parts build as much as an authentic or reproduction of a certain vintage vehicle. As hobbyists we should all appreciate that fact that the are all functional machines brought back to life. That, is a beautiful thing.

I would agree that it doesn't matter.  Reproduction or not enjoy them, if your saving vintage tin - great.

Build what you like. Drive what you like. Do it all within your budget. If you are happy, that is all that matters. If you can't wait to wake up on a Saturday morning and go for a spin and it puts a big smile on your face, then you are there. And if your wife/son/daughter happens to be along for the ride and they have a smile, nothin else matters.

In closing this thread hopefully, this was an interesting discussion that started with my truck 4sale, for $7000, that was my starting price, everyone of us that owns/builds/paints/details and drives our rides all have added personal touches, good or bad, right or wrong, who cares, i do care and have a major problem, if you drive a piece of junk that is unsafe to drive and won't pass a saftey check, you put yourself in danger and everyone around you in danger.

"Its Better to be Safe then Sorry"

As for the word "fake" my comment would be fake safetys, insurance slips, boob jobs, and fibreglass bodies titled to year of car, but who cares what i think, thats my opinion......

Discussions like this are good, no 2 people are exactly alike most have similiar views but somewhat different, we all luvvvvv classis cars and trucks and thats all that matters to me
Its not what you drive, its whether you drive it or not.......

You nailed it DEAD ON meoracing!! That's all that matters!

I appreciate any and ALL vintage vehicles, some may not be my personal pick, but I can respect the person who invests their time and money into a vehicle to make it the way they want to!! Who am I to say anything about what they've done... it was their vision! I'm just happy to see the old cars and trucks brought back to life (in whatever form that is) and being enjoyed once again!!
