 The cars use a fuel pressure gauge. The reason race cars don't have an actual fuel gauge like street cars use is because when the race cars go around the corners, the fuel all goes over to one side and then one corner of the fuel tank, therefore a normal fuel gauge would be reading that the tank is almost empty or maybe even empty when there would actually be quite a bit of fuel still in there.

The fuel pressure gauge will just start bouncing back and fourth when the tank is almost empty. It's mainly up to the crew chiefs to know how many laps their car can go before needing fuel again. They will calculate that during practice sessions before the race.

Did anybody notice or was it just me....

When they interviewed Tony Stewart duing the rain stoppage they asked him...
"Do you know a rain dance"? he replied...."No, but I just dialed Glenn Styers from Osweken for some help" I just about spit my beer out....lol. Tony and Glenn must be best buds since he won the World of Outlaws up here last year......I'll bet he will be back this year!

And there s Mr big mouth junior again gets interview after finishing a decent third ........he can t find anything else better to say ......... than put judgement on somebody else racing.......so ignorant he can even thank his team for getting him in front or his owner ....shame shame................and thumbs up to David Reuti for caring for his team and trying to keep them in top 35...............Dave Jr interview s just get me so pissed............. sorry .........how can he have so many fans is just a miracle ........he just doesn t deserve to win.............if he ever does he probably do like the last time he won a race ..........with not even a smile on his face................his dad had won championship before he won his first and only Daytona and he could celebrate it like if it was his first race ever.............

the worst part today if the caution wouldn t have happen he was almost 10 when caution happen .............they crash after ........than he save the wreck ......manage to stay third without the caution he would probably finish way at the back cause he would run out of fuel just like Gordon ..................his crew chief told him to save gas even the commentator mention..............and than you hear him his in car audio hoho i didn t know i was suppose to save ...................what a stupid driver

so if you look at the money part ............does it make senses to run another over 400 laps use tires and gas for the same prize money

Anyone notice there were about 6 cars dropped out of the race in the 1st. 10 laps!!!! I still say these 'Start & Park" owners should be fined or banned for a few races & let the other guys that had to go home on Qualifing run the race [if they can prove they won't 'park it' as well] Pi$$'s me off to see the grid go from 43 to 37 or lower in just a couple of laps & announcers, never say why their off the track, just list the names & say the've gone to the garage, no follow up no explaination!!

the first car to drop out had 25 laps and the fifth car had 75 laps all for brakes failures ........the sixth car was Kasey Kane with a blown engine and he had 256 laps ..........nascar com stat result report and finishing 43 th place paid $68 000. 00 ..........

Well...if they did fix the brakes, if thats the problem...and ran as long as they could, they would likely finish ahead of someone that crashed and couldnt get it fixed....I just wonder if it costs them 68 grand to race for the weekend?

 Sorry to dis agree but there were at least 6 cars went to the garage in the 1st 10 laps just pulled off the track & quietly dropped out other than the announcers stating the names of who dropped out early,way before the brake failures started.

small team can t afford the price tag so they gamble and buy a used engine from the big team some other just rent the engine , to keep a racing team cars trucks andd all the expenses is a budget that reach 10 million per year

 if that theory would work a guy who crashes a lap 300 will be going a lap down for every other lap and the race was 515 laps he would still finish ahead of anyone who was in the last 5

and the race finish with only 23 cars on the leading lap any of the last would needed 20 more cars to crash and not come back to even finish the race and they still be many laps behind which mean they would still finish last and get the same prize

I"ll say it again on the "DEGA" race,10 laps in and 4 to 6 cars were announced in the pits & only one tried to get back out!!! Most of them were the "little' guys with no sponsers!!1 Still say if they can't run the race let someone else that can, "fill" their spot!!!!

ok now for the low budget team ..............ok........ to make the race they have to qualify on speed .........assuming they would try to do like you say replace the ones that can t or don t have the budget for the others that didn t qualified cause of speed ............even he they would have the money to run it wouldn t matter are you going to race a car agains guys that are going close to 5 milles per hour faster than you just to finish last.................and nascar will dq or black flag you unless you can keep the speed .........................You can have the money to go around and around but unless you got the speed it won t matter

i learned everything i need to know about nascar by watching that documentary about it, perhaps you guys heard of it, its called days of thunder. espn has great coverage and a guy that comes from running open wheel can simply hop in a car and win daytona, after banging his doctor of course. stay in the groove cole! true story!

 Forty Four cars tried to qualify for Forty Three spots.  It is not only the little guys that are having sponsorship money problems so are the big teams.

More money means more cars.

Had to watch the highlights on the Nascar site. I thought it was a usual Sun race, we went out last night to B/day party & I missed it!!! Dam!! But watched the whole race in 14 min. flat on the Nascar site!!!!
