so time and again...us artists try to paint artworks and stuff that will actually sell...but i wanted to go to our source...and ask everyone on here....what kinds of art would YOU actually pay for at a car show?

pinstriped panels?

tiki's?

pinups?

old signage?

what???

come on guy's....give us some ideas, so we can paint what you want to see!!

in the end we all love to paint, but its always nice to sell it too, so we can afford to paint more..and get our wives off our back too!

Old signage would probably be my preference... service station related, Ford signs cuz I'm a Ford guy lol... even a combination of both worlds... say a Ford sign with some cool pin striping? (that I would buy!) You could use any manufacturer in place of "Ford" maybe make a few covering different brands?

Pinups are cool too!

prices always have a vast range...most of my larger signs and panels sell for $200-$400....
lots of panels sell for $40 i guess is the average....framed panels$100 or so....but keep in mind its about $30 just to frame something these days...

its also different between artists....

what does the average hot rodder have to spend on a piece of art?

Old signage.   Also pinstriped small metal toolboxes are cool.  A small size that you can carry in the trunk for example.

Pinstriped panels that you can hang up on a wall are great also.

Hey! ^^^^^^^ "Light switch and electrical receptacle plates" Now that's a cool idea Stu!!

Small pieces of art you can put up in the garage... I'd like a few of these for my garage! What do ya think Mask? Would that be something you'd wanna do?

Hey Mask, I personally love the old pinup stuff, well mybe young pinup stuff too..lol And of course the pinstriping itself. Not really into the tiki suff never was. As far as old sinage there is so much out there I feel it is personal to ones decor and it is also hard to please more than one person with one sign so this would be a custom order. And as far as pinups and pinstriping I would think those would be impulse buys. A least it would be for me just sayin. And it would also be nice to see someone do awards made from this type of art nothing fancy just way kool.

See most of us would go to pocket for cool plates in their mancave etc.

Quick little jobs that you could charge a reasonable amount that someone won't mind paying. Depending on the type of plate the "stock" is 15 cents to a few dollars.

Something like this. Don't know if your including Air brushed art, but these would sell. Also I think "SPEED SHOP" signs or garage style signs like you see at the swap meets. Have a few done up with only the name to fill in at the show as you sell them. Like the commercially produced ones but one offs or personalized. $300 for a piece of art is normally a great price but for a lot of us car guys we would rather spend the money on parts etc, but if the price is right we will bite. Most work I have seen or bought is worth every penny but may be a harder sell. Sell a few at top price or sell a lot at a reduced price. Not trying to discount what you guys do.

Agree with the pinups,, and old signage, but along that line i'm thinking to get different from the usual, by doing old ad signage from aftermarket parts, ignition, carb, etc there are lots of old advertising stuff in old car magazines, stuff like "Canadian Service Data Books" etc. i have some and the old ads are neat and usually from Canadian suppliers, Toronto-Montreal jobbers etc. (That is keeping it somewhat local to Ontario.)
