I've seen pictures of your 52 before and would like to see in person to check out the conversion to the olds chassis. You'll have the best of old look and somewhat modern suspension and steering. Should be great to drive.

Well,if your going to be in the area, let me know & you can check it out!!It seemed to handle all right on test drive up & down the street, only got it into 4th gear & ran out of road, but I'm sure 5th. will work.

They are DeVilbissFinishline guns, could be ordered either HVLP or standard version... Not a bad every day set, I have had the same HVLP set for about 5 years...

Picture 183.jpgPicture 184.jpgGot the seats back from Upol/ shop, they did a great job matching up the pattern for frt. buckets too the back seat that came with "kit' I ordered thru National Chevy in the US. I ordered extra material from them to have the frts. done. Complete kit gives you everything to do the interior, all pre made, so it shouldn't take too long for shop to install it when car is ready.

Thanks for sharing the build Pete. It looks great now...but wait till you get some paint on her and everything assembled. All the hard work up to now will have been worth it. Sweet!

Picture 100.jpgPicture 101.jpgRan into a "snag" on the electric fan installation, Temp switch that came with the kit [Summit] is way too small for the hole in head or intake!!  I had a reducer bushing in tool box, but of course, the internal threads don't match the switch??? Heading to NAPA or engine machine dhop to see if they can "bail" me out on this one. Fan was a close fit, almost looks like this was planned to fit,[or just lucky]

Changed a rr. axle, trying to stop the leak, after changing the brg. & seal with a "repair" unit. got the dash in & everything works & did a "rip" around the block, this thing is "BAD A$$" fast at 1/2 throttle. It's running HOT, fan doesn't kick in till 200F but it just keeps climbing, T/stat open, & w/pump is circulating coolant in Rad. Going to try direct hook up on elect. fan [run all the time] & see what happens,or put a 5 or 7 blade on & use elect. for back up as a "pusher" Quite cool on drive without the windshield, don't need A/C

Awesome to hear that you've had the 52 out already on the street! That's probably one of the most exciting moments of any car build...that and actually finishing it. The dash bezel and seats look great! Can't wait to see it all finished :) In regards to your overheating issue, I'm sure you've already checked...but was just wondering if your lower rad hose is collapsing(try another rad cap) and/or you've burped the cooling system.

Keep up the great work!

I had to strip the rear end AGAIN after finding out that NAPA has a problem with the "repair brg. & seal unit" They credited me for the brgs [surprize] & I went back to org, brg & separate seal, these fit much tighter on axles [too bad I didn't save the 1st. set when they leaked as well] So far so good on the leak. Next I by-passed the fan switch & have the fan on constant with ign. drove around the block a few times & it seemed to hold at 190F w/a 160 T/stat but it was HOT out yesterday. I'm "tempted" to run it down the hwy. to see what it does at speed & if the air flow will cool it down,BUT with my luck I'd get caught,no windshield, plates not "stickered" etc. Also going to re-check the timing just in case it's off!! pete

Pi$$ed right off, after changing the left axle, changing the brgs. & seals, I go out to garage today, & puddle of rear end fluid at the left rr. tire & on the floor!!!!! Any ideas here I'm at my "WHITTS End" here!!!!! 84 Cutlass rr. end [7.5 same as a Monty] I've used the "repair brg & seal" that moves the brg. & seal surface out further, "leaked like a "sieve" Have gone back to the "stock" 2 piece brg. & seal & seal seamed to be a tight fit on axle, but it still leaking?????confuseconfuseconfuseconfuseconfuseconfuse

Think I've got it Licked. the plastic "vent" on rr. hsg. was gummed up!!! Cleaned it off & did some "hot laps" around the block[after cleaning the shoes & backing plate AGAIN} so far so good!! NAPA said I was the 3rd. or 4th. customer to have problems with the "repair brgs." so that was the 1st.problem, vent was secondary!!! once it got "sealed up"

Nice to see the progress on the Poncho! It's coming along, keep at it!!

I hear you on your frustrations with the leaking axle seals!... I'm dealing with the same kinda thing myself. I got fluid dripping down onto the inside of my right rear tire. I thought it might have been brake fluid (leaking wheel cylinder) but after taking wheel/drum off saw cylinder was dry, but fluid was coming from under axle flange. So I though it was the axle seal that fits in the tube (its a Ford 9" rear) I pulled the axle and seal... Got a new seal from Carquest, installed it and also put sealant around the flange. Then reassembled everything! Went for a test drive, came home.... STILL LEAKING! WTF! Not happy.... I called a buddy of mine, he mentioned there is another seal that gets pressed on with the axle bearing. So I'm sure that's the problem, but don't feel like taking it all apart again (right now) I'll just drive it for now then maybe over the winter I'll get a new seal pressed on. It doesn't leak a ton, just a small drip so I think I'm fine... just annoying!

If I'm still not able to drive Wife may get a "quick" lesson on towing a trailer!!!!
