Mike!.... that brawler is FANTASTIC!!!!!..... BITCH'IN WORK..... Hope all is good and hope to hook up with you sometime.
Thanx Jeff (and Neil) My target of October isn't going to happen but I'll have it ready for spring. Too many days babysitting my grandson and then spending the next day recuperating! Actually I love it - the coupe can wait a bit You only get 4 year olds for a very short time.

Time flies Man! Got my seats done - a couple of little puckers to be worked out with a steamer but they're look'n pretty good. Should start the door panels etc. soon (like this week) and the top and headliner are already done so I'm gett'n there.

OOOPS! Didn't mean to imply that I did the upholstery - I had my son's buddy do it - he did my '34 coupe and put new seat covers on my '66 ElCamino so I know the puckers will come out.

I always found that a steamer never got all the wrinkles out my seats, but after a few trips to Taco Bell they were as tight as drum. Use caution on white seats !!

I've made enough trips there - believe me! This guy will get rid of the puckers whatever it takes. He's always done a great job for me - even did the upholstery in my Grandson's roadster:

Hey Mike.....it was a blast to see you and the "T for Two" on Sat. night down in Windsor.......your hot rod made Ricks new shop look that much cooler brother. The coupe looked great.....well done Mike......can't wait to see her next summer on the road.
Thanx Mark, Great to see you guys the other day! For the rest of you, I got a little more done on my coupe finally. Just need to finish a few plumbing issues and a little wiring as well as the rest of the interior. Should be rid'n in the springtime.

Mike,
I so wanted to post a pic of the "T" after Being at Rick's place, but I knew you would either put some up or wait to show it at Detroit.
Are you going to do "The Basement" with us or no? Rossi should bring his car as well.

That turned out very very nice! So cool to watch a build come so far and turn out as great as it did, I can't wait to see it in person! (maybe in the basement at Cobo Hall?)

Back to work on the coupe and trying to make it to the Shaker's reunion in Windsor June 1. My wife got pretty sick and spent 7 weeks in the hospital this winter and for two weeks after she came home I was kind of tied to the house because she wasn't able to stand on her own but she's getting stronger now and I have the car running. After sorting out the Pertonix deal the car ran but very rough and it seemed like too much fuel. The pump, deadheaded into the gauge showed 25 psi. This is an old style Carter pump like I've used on many other hot rods. Installed a regulator and set it down to 3 psi (three Rochester two jets) still ran rough and I thought I could hear some valve train rattle so I pulled the valve covers off and found one pushrod down in the hole about an inch from touching the (Crane roller) rockers. Tried to grab it with a magnet and dropped the Fricken thing down inside the lifter valley. Looks like I'm pulling the intake off tomorrow after calling my engine builder. I did get the interior back except for the kick panels so I thought I'd post a few pics. My guy took the seats back and worked out a couple of puckers he thought he might get with a bit of steam but that didn't happen so they had to come apart. Looks good now. The chrome strips are off a '40 Dodge coupe that my buddy had and wanted to dechrome.

Thanks guys. Found out the problem is worse than I thought. I also have a bent (and stuck open) exhaust valve. My engine builder says the lifter, which is a brand new Comp Cams piece, was stuck and wouldn't bleed down. We had to put it in a big vice and put a bunch of pressure on it before it would compress at all. So now I also have a bent exhaust valve. Pulled the intake and head this morning and I'll drop the head (Which is a brand new Dart piece) off at the rebuilder's shop in the morning. Starting to look like I won't be meeting my deadline. I've always avoided trying to get a car done for a certain event because it gets to be like a job but I really wanted to drive the T to this reunion. Piss'n me off!

well, still not driving. Found the cam completely worn out and it had all kinds of cam lube + break in additive in the oil and it was broke in right. Took the whole mess apart and rebuilt it again with all new bearings etc. Brought it home, dropped the distributer in and it fired right up. Ran beautifully. I ran it around the neigbourhood a bit and it was great. Knew I was low on fuel so I dumped in some seafoam so it could sit all winter and added 50 Litres of fuel. On the way home it started miss'n and popp'n through the exhaust and stalled as I pulled into the shop. Now it doesn't want to start. I'm so pissed with it I haven't been in the shop until today and only because Roy DesJardin, who built the original "T for Two" back in the mid 50s came over to see my coupe. It was a pretty neat deal and I got a few pics of him in the car. Mine is a tribute to his car. Some pics:

Thanks for the cool shots. That mill has been sure giving you a run for your money . I think the zinc in the oil has been about bashed to death as an excuse. I see a alot of the cam suppliers have started offering nitrated cams ( surface hardened ) rather then trying to friction harden it when running. Good idea but it makes you wonder Are they trying to improve the product or just hide the fact they are using cheep offshore steel much like coated drill bits .
