driver "attitudes"!!!!!

On a recent trip to Princess Auto in Whitby, I nearly "piled" into the back of a Ford 1/2 ton with "No Brake Lights"!!! At the next stop light & pulled up beside the truck & got his attenttsion, & advised him of the problem. His responce was "unbelievable",  " they haven't worked in mths. mind your own F&^%ing bussiness, what are you a "COP" then got the "FINGER" as the light turned green!!!!! Just shook my head, try to inform him of a safety issue & he couldn't care less!!!! Now I can't help but notice the # of vehicles with  bulbs "burned out, brake, signals or headlamps. Do people "Not Check" these, or is it my past driving experience as tractor trailer driver that you do this????

I noticed the same thing.... Being retired I seem to observe more..... Ever "look" at every driver coming at you? they are not "looking" at me! They are in a daze! I have tried this (at car wash) I nudged my truck to the curb, and past, and watched reactions...nothing! I nudge past the curb and still no reaction? I'm sure if I backed further I would peel the side off a car and they would not even slow!! amazing I met my daughter on the road to Goderich the other day She was not watching the road! She was turned to the right looking down probably Texting?? Shes 40, a woman, and knows it all, until she kills somone

Its terrible people have this type of attitude! I've come across a few myself... I wonder what that guy is gonna think when a transport drives right through the back of him because he didn't see him stopping! Lets say he may not live to think about it... his careless disregard could cost him his life, but even worse some other innocent driver!! Pretty sad....

After hearing the "they haven't worked in months" and then getting the finger, I would have had no problem phoning in his plate number and reporting the jerk.

I understand how these drivers can frustrate people but really you are better not to say anything or point anything out to them. You wouldn't believe what my son tells me they find in cars at traffic stops. Traffic stops are by far and a way the most dangerous activity so if you are not a law enforcement officer these clowns may very well use what ever they have on you . Shotguns, grenades, pistols, bats.

You're absolutely right Rat Boy... for officers doing traffic stops they just don't know what people have or are willing to do! Its down right scary...

Here's a story, my sister in-law's friend was driving home at night on a 400 series highway, changed lanes and accidentally cut off a car behind him (it happens) he waved to apologize... little did he know the car was following him. Later he pulled in to get gas, and the car followed him in, 2 guys get out with bats and nearly beat him to death!! He managed to get to a hospital and lived, but talk about people being F-ING CRAZY! Something as simple as cutting in front of someone could cost you your life... I am very cautious about other people, you just never know.

Attitudes are just that, getting the best of people to where you can't be sure what a person could or will do. As far as driving abilities, I have always contended that the system needs to be improved. When you get your drivers license there is not another test to pass until you are 80 years old unless you have an upgraded license. One day I was driving back to the shop about to pass the license office and decided to stop in and write my M license. I walked in, paid the money and wrote the test, how hard could it be. I past with no problem at all but while inline the gentleman in front received a stern warning from the clerk. Being curious I asked him why he was so short with him. Apparently it was his 3rd and final chance at passing the written test. I did not wait to here if he passed but a few weeks later I saw him at the Tim Hortons drive running a yellow post down the rear quarter of his Honda Accord. These are the people that we have to share the road with and some have the attitude that they are good drivers willing to force that attitude on you.

Couple of punks tried that with my father about 30 years ago and he had my two younger brothers who were 7 and 8 at the time. He was in a 68 Mustang and these two were in 60's Camaro and for some reason they figured they would follow him. Now he was a tough SOB that grew up in working class England and was pretty wise. He figured these two were going to follow him and mess up the car so he weedled his way across Brampton and then slowly pulled into the cop shop parking lot in Bramalea...needless to say he never saw them again.

Situational awareness is a HUGE part of driving. I treat EVERYONE like they are trying to kill me and thus I never give them a chance. Driving is a serious business and I don't drive like I'm in my living room watching TV and f'in daydreaming but you can be damn sure I'm watching for them.

Got that one covered ... I just got the dash camera I ordered off eBay for $40.  Seems to work great, gonna order two more for the other cars.  Yeah, I saw the video of the clown on the 401 ... that's what got me interested in the cameras.
