VEHICLE - 56 CHEV

I LIKE TO USE MY LIGHTER RECEPTICLE AS A POWER SOURCE FOR MY IPOD.I INSTALLED A NEW RECEPTICLE AND LIGHTER.THE FUSE BLOCK IS ORIGINAL.SOMETIMES THE LIGHTER WILL WORK AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T.TODAY,I FORGOT MY POCKET LIGHTER,SO I USED THE CAR LIGHTER A COUPLE OF TIMES & IT WORKED FINE.I REPLACEED THE LIGHTER,PUSHED IT ALL THE WAY IN WITHOUT REALISING I HAD DONE SO.A FEW MINUTES LATER,I NEEDED A LIGHT,SO I PUSHED THE LIGHTER IN.IT WAS ALREADY IN,SO I PULLED IT OUT & PUSHED IT IN AGAIN.NOW THE LIGHTER DOESN'T WORK AGAIN.I TRIED FOLLOWING THE POWER WIRE FROM THE RECEPTICLE TO THE FUSE BLOCK BUT THE WIRE GETS LOST IN A GROUP OF OTHER WIRES SO I DON'T KNOW WHICH WIRE IS WHICH.ALL THE FUSES ARE GOOD.

ANY IDEAS/COMMENTS/ASSISTANCE ARE APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU........................-:) baginz

Sometimes its even the part from the ipod adapter that you stick in the socket....I have trouble with our 2005...have to wiggle it around to make contact sometimes

i would test the wire where it plugs in the lighter first see if you got power , if you got power try the lighter in again if it don t pop out ,see how far you can throw it and get a brand new socket and lighter..............i stop smoking years ago but if i remember well back than the lighters, did not last long................so there s that chance of just trying a new lighter and problem may be solve

the lighter plug is not fused, you likely have burnt out the receptacle or the wire off the lighter receptacle or the lighter itself is burned out.  i have found as well that some lighter receptacles dont accept some adapters very well either.

My 58 Chev has a fuse in the lighter base itself. The smartass in me says give up smoking though. The dumbass in me accidently pushed the lighter in one day on the 58 and the friggin thing melted itself into a blob. Coulda finished off the car without the fuse.

Hey Chris:You just turned on a light bulb above my old worn out head.It does have that fuse link and I'll crawl under and check it tomorrow.Sometimes the most obvious things escape me.

Beautiful 58 by the way..............-:) Thank You
