Looking for someone who is really good at adjusting car doors to fit properly. I have a couple that are 1/2 low at the back. I believe they were not mounted properly and it is NOT a sagging frame problem.
How are the hinge pins & bushings????My bodyman & myself just spent a whole day aligning the doors on the 52 after putting them back on, it's a time consuming job, you just need a helper & lots of "patience" He had to "oblong" the hinge bolt holes, play with the "striker" plate, & "LOTS of BEER" & they fit better now than when I took them off!!!!! If you can move the door up & down when it's open the pins & Bushings are likely "POOCHED"

I used to install doors at the old AMC plant in Brampton....Now, this was a bare door, nothing in it yet......We had a jig that got it close and if the back sagged a bit, the lower hinge was moved slightly to the rear, which brought it up....Of course, the bolts werent loosened, you just smacked it with your BFH........lol

hard to tell how without knowing which gap your trying to align..............if your talking about a sedan the striker will bring the door up when in close position .............but if there s no room at the top corner ,,,,,,,,are you trying to align the bottom of the window with the back ? i f it s a 2 door hardtop you can play with the door for gaps and than realign the windows ......1/2 and inch is pretty big gap .................i seen pro shave the door edge or reverse build it up with welding to make all the gaps even .........is the bottom edge of the door even with the front gap
3/8" is more like it. The top rear of the doors are about 3/8" lower than the adjacent post. It's a 2 door, hardtop. The drivers door is touching a bit at the bottom and it takes a bit more of a slam than normal for a good close.
if you have the right tool to loose up the striker and give it gentle taps upwards with the hammer ............. and try closing the door see if you gain................but a perfect fit may involve adjusting the hinges and i ll say like Dual Pete a few beers always help a little..............and remember that a 2 door hardtop with lot of power under the hood and abuse driving will affect body lines . that s why drag racer like 2 door sedan
