Post your pics of whatever neat thing, or place, or person, that caught your attention today...............................
I had the opportunity to repair a bit of wiring on this neat 52 Merc today
Seems the wire from the ignition switch to the fuel pump was ran along the door sill, then under the back seat to the trunk and down to the pump. The seat frame pinched the wire causing a dead short and a melted wire. The persons unknown that put in an electric fuel pump, never put a fuse in the system. The owner was lucky he did not have a fire on his hands as he quickly turned off the key..................
Guy driving a 2000? chev pickup, hits a full size cow moose,, the moose is flipped UP over the truck,, and ,,, lands on the roof of the cab, and the rest on the top of the truck cap!! Totally lying up there dead.
This happened at night not far from me, next morning i go there, and meet the guy, (Left the truck there overnight,) he has the truck running, (Never broke the rad!!),,, AND he is driving it home on the hiway, moose still lying on the top, ,,,he;s driving the truck, with NO grill, Hood buckled up about a foot high, ,,,, AND NO windshield at all!!! (BREEZY RIDE!!) Lol.
Cops were there,, surprised they let him drive on the hiway like that!!
He was takin the moose home to butcher it up!!
Fortunately a guy i know was there also and took a few pics of this!!
I was driving down the road yesterday morning , saw a Ford pick up on the side of the road , 4ways on looked like a tractor hood behind him. When I passed him , what I thought was a tractor hood was actually the top of a towable construction air compressor standing on its trailer hitch. Straight up in the air. Must have come off the hitch dug in the ground and then burrowed into the gravel on the side of the road. I wish I had a camera for that one.
That looks like fun! I wish they did something like that around here.... not technically an organized cruise night but just get together if you can make it!!
Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls has been a cruising spot since i moved here in the early 60's It just seems to keep on going. On a night like last Sunday where the weather is perfect and it is a long weekend, it is amazing. If you count the later model racer cars and the low rider trucks, there is sure something for everyone.............
So I 'm heading for work this morning and I spot a Tornado tire chaned to a tree,Anyone who knows me knows I love those style tire. Its a G 70 14 my favorite size,it is mounted on a chrome steel sloted 6 bolt rim, slotted rims also a favorite. The sign says he has 4 and will take any reasonable offer,my luckey day I'm thinking they would make cool rollers.I get to work and make the call ,I am thinking about what would be a reasonable offer on a set of 20 yr old tires and rims probably just as old.I figured I would maybe offer $75 to $100 seamed reasonable to me.Buddy answers the phone and I ask whats the story on the tires and rims ,he says there is less than 1500 miles(yes miles he is as old as I am)I say ya but there 20 yrs old now how much would you concider to be a reasonable offer.Well he says I have over $600 into them so I could take $450 if you want them ,thanks I say I think about it,good bye.Holy crap did that luckey find ever get shot down in a hurry, way over my budget, back to work. Ed
an early 283 chev in an old van trailer I have to strip and cut up,all scrap, its complete and has rams horn manifolds, both sides turn back, will save those and check block and cyl head # tomorrow,
Well I wasn't today it was Saturday so close enough.I was out vending and helping out at this charity heratage fare ,yard sale thing that fellow Ratlers member T.J. got me involved in when what to my wondering eyes should appear on The Lakeshore road by Westleville but a really cool restored older Rolls Royce in black and silver, then a white one appeared then an all black one .There must have been nearley 15 of them go by all ages and coloures,I didn't know there were that manyR.Rs in Canada let alone running together.I am not much for restored cars but wow this was impressive . Could be worse ... last time I saw a doctor he slipped on the rubber glove and asked me to remove my pants, lie down, grab my knees and face the wall ... he's a dentist.
yep, you guessed right an untouched Crosley and a Henry J too! how often do you get to see that. Quite a few cars still in the back yards and farms out here. We will see what we can find next as we head into Arizona...............
The coolest thing I saw today was at the shop talking with Grumpy when he stopped and said ,thats cool, what I said looking for a rod or muscle car, that he said then I noticed what he was talking about.Accross the road two younger guys were helping an older lady who was stuck on a curb in her wheelchair cart thing. They got it on the sidewalk and away they went ,they didn't steal her purse or anything, cool. Today's pics, just love this desert stuff, but the 95 + temp is a bit tough on the old body...................
So instead of "standing on the corner, in Winslow AZ" the wife was driving by instead. the whole town is piped with Eagles music..............................nice place.
