it's likely a Camero, they had the 5spd. trans mounted on on a "tilt" for floor tunel shape & have the shifter come up "straight" [me thinks]

The V8 ones from Camaro/Firebird sell for $100+ on eBay.com, but one of the (recently completed) V8 eBay ads had a casting number listed that is different from the one you posted. Best thing to do (in my opinion) would be to find out what it fits then search eBay completed auctions to try to determine a value. If there are no sales of that particular bell to help determine value, list it on eBay with a starting price more than scrap value ... someone out there probably wants it.

I sold the little shifter button (to access reverse/park etc) from a 1981 "Bandit" Trans am on eBay and got $85 for it, doubt I could have found a buyer for $5 at a local fleamarket/swapmeet. It might be worth the gamble to list it on eBay and hope you find several interested bidders, you might be surprised.

I have a couple of the V8 bells in my shed. If I can find the time (today hopefully) I will check the casting numbers (and post them)to see if theymatch yours. Key to a good eBay ad is knowing exactly what you have and what it will fit.

I dug out one of my bellhousings and it is so covered in grease/oil I can't find a number on it (I don't know where I need to look and don't want to clean the entire unit looking for a number) ... doesn't matter though, I googled your part number and came up with a post from Hotrod.com. It seems your bellhousing is from a 1983 Camaro/Firebird and is somewhat desirable due to it being one of the early bells that was equipped with a mechanical linkage ... the later ones were hydraulic. Definitely put that sucker up on eBay.

Here is what I scrounged off of Hotrod.com ....

Unless the clutch system is being converted to a hydraulic setup, an ’83 Camaro/Firebird T5 bellhousing (GM part No. 14060627, middle) or equivalent scattershield must be used with the T56, since the ’84-and-up T5s (bellhousing shown on left) had hydraulic-clutch setups. The ’83 T5 bellhousing is no longer produced by GM, so scour the wrecking yards (we found this one at Marv’s USA, Hollander Interchange No. 784), or use a Lakewood part No. 15015 T5 scattershield (right), which is what we did for safety reasons. The scattershield may also be mandatory if you run the car at the dragstrip.

yep, first 2 yrs of the 'new' body camaros ('82-'83) were mech linkage. also used the borg warner trans.

this bellhousing is basically the same as the older, very common 403 housing.
