Yeah , we had an impromptu strip in Windsor that was very popular and around for many years . If you are approaching the Windsor area on 401 there are several branches to choose from if you don't want the downtown core . One of theose was 3B and if you mentioned " 3B " in a car discussion , EVERYONE knew what that meant . It was a double lane of cement and the finish line was an overpass so it was pretty simple to decide winner / loser . I'm talking mid 60's , the golden age in my mind , but 3B was running for many years after that . Ah , those Friday and Saturday nights of old ...I do miss them .

Jesssuss TJ, I haven't heard anybody mention 3B for a very long time. When I get asked about racing in Windsor I always mention 3B along with Jefferson, 7 mile road to Lasalle, Belle's triangle i Amherstburg, and believe it or not Huron Line from College to Assumption high school.

Where did you grow up in Windsor.  I was at Grand Marais and then Sandwich and Mill

I was at Grand Marais and Rockwell , went to Massey . You mentioned racing on Jefferson but due to house construction , it folded up later 60's . The other areas you mention , I never heard of . I moved to Kitchener area around 69 , for 20 years , and lost track of a lot of " car happening things " in Windsor .

3B was good because it was away from residences and there was little chance of noise complaints . Windsor had some pretty strong street machines back then but I do think London / St Thomas was even better .

There couldn't have been many highway signs made for this short stretch of road so I have to consider this a good score .

Shortest highway in Ontario was from Highway 3 to Old Highway 98 in Maidstone, a few miles East of Windsor.

I attended the Lindsay Swap Meet and found a guy selling the intake manifold/air cleaner from the OX Cart show car. I was a little $hort on ca$h that day so I had to pass. Cool piece and Priced not bad. Watch for it. It stands out. You will know it when you see it. Sorry I did not take a pic. Think Ox/Texas Longhorns. Cool.
Later.

In the Niagara Falls area the Satans Car Club from the Chippewa area was the one with the first dragster in the area. It was in mid to late 50s when I first heard their stories. The story I best remember is when the QE highway was a two lane road from Niagara Falls to Fort Erie and the Satans wanted to do some tuning on the dragster. They went to the OPP and asked if they could test on the highway. The OPP shut down the highway for them in both directions and blocked the side streets for them. Try that today. I believe Don McArthur was the driver and they were regulars at Cayuga and Niagara in the very early years.

At the ELTA summerbash in London a few weeks ago was a restored chopped and sectioned 1932 Ford 5 window coupe powered by a Buick nailhead that I believe is a Satan members car from the late 50's/ early 60's. It was shown in a 60's 'Star Weekly' story about the club. Does anyone have any info. on this car?

Teejay, I grew up on Huron Line, not far from Rochie. I went to Massey for grade 9 in 62/63 if my memory is right. Attended 3 different separate schools in South Windsor. Graduated from Lowe in '67. I remember the racing on 3B, Jefferson, and 7 Mile in LaSalle. Also a road in Leamington but I don't recall the name of it.

Great story 51Styline......we actually had 2 old Satan's club cars at this years ELTA Summer Bash ...here's a picture of Mac and the Satan's in 1961 with their rail.

The coupe was owned by a gentleman , I am not sure of his first name, last name was Goytche. The story goes that the car became a little too popular with the police and was removed from the road in around 1960.  I first saw the car about 20 years ago, when a friend told me to climb his fence and look in the garage behind his. It was sitting there in storage since the 60's.  The gentleman had been suffering with some illnesses and never got back to the car. As it turns out he got better and a few friends all got together and did a restoration.  Vic Hill painted the car in his garage and Stu Wright and some of his Wedesday coffee club,  helped re assemble it, the motor was sent out and rebuilt.

The car was back  on the road a few years before the gentleman passed,  It is now being enjoyed by his grandson, who brought it to ELTA .

Good update on the coupe Davey. I was just getting in to rodding in the late 50s and don't really remember that car clearly. I have faded memories of an older coupe running around here but my clearest memories are of the boys that made Whites garage at Stanley & North St their home base. They were a bunch of pretty good guys and they had some good looking and good running cars and weren't afraid to share their knowledge and opinions. There were a lot of good times and memories made at Whites garage and here some 50 + years I can still recall the good times . Some of the guys are gone now but I thank them for the good times and memories. It is good to hear the Coupe is on the road again and being enjoyed again as it was intended to be.

Does anyone know if John Petrie's '69 GTX convertible survived the crusher, after being in a wreck on Hwy 400 many years ago? Apparently it was "Written Off" but the actual fate of the car seems unknown. Maybe someone saved it. Anyone Know?
