Yeah, I respond to many and never hear back, yet the ad still stands. Maybe they are to lazy to remove their ads once they sell

I had someone try to scam me this week. A**hole...get a real job and work an honest day like the rest of us.

Southern cars??? A few years ago I was in North Carolina going through a good junk yard. This guy had some decent cars. I got talking to him and he asked where I was from. I told him I was from BC, Canada. He said he knew where that was and half the cars in his junk yard were from Saskatchewan. He said he sells a lot of them to people from Canada.

Well the Idiots have started!!!!  I asked that ph. calls were prefered, but the e-mails are flooding in! also said willing to trade for 50's or 60's 2dr or a wagon!!  So far a offer for a 36 Olds & another for a 39 Buick both 4 drs. & neither one will do over 50MPH on the hwy. !!!  Both cars did sound like "GOOD" ones, all orginal restored or survivor, but not my interest!!Also had one say that "if car is appr. at $20G why are you asking $15,500 & not the appr. value???? & another saying I was "CRAZY" the cars only $5000 at best   Have one ph. call on a 65 Ford fairlane wagon with a "STOUT" d/line but very "plain jane" looking & dull interior. GOOD SLEEPER & I'm still thinking, wait & see what else happens, No big hurry here!!!

I didn't reply, then another email to me , asking,"Are you comming to see it, or are you one of these "A-holes" that just answers Ads for something to do?"

I love this;
Will you take "X" for it? I say "that sounds reasonable, when do you want to come and get it" and never hear back.

Time wasters....I guess its all part of the deal. I thought offering to deliver would be helpful, but doesn't appear to be

Just got offered a "swap' for a mid 80's "MONSTER MUDDER TRUCK" even though add says trade for 50 to 60's car or wagon??? Oh & it's never been "off road" or in the "MUD" OK?? Declined the offer as they "obviously can't read" so I'm supposed to believe that it's never been off road?? Really don't care as it's NOT something i would want anyway. Pete

Hey Pete. It's absolutley amazing the amount of MORONS out there in this world. Some of the responses that you get for an ad should be in Ripley's Believe it or not!

I like kijiji,,have sold numerous vehicles at my price,,If your vehicle is listed more than 2 weeks RAISE the price and attract a new breed of buyers. I put a 34 ford bumper up for sale yesterday and got no responses, so today I raised the price as I know there are serious cheap SOBS drooling over it

Hey Rochie.

Here are a few thaughts on your ad.

I did some research for ya.biggrin

There are currently 5  Mercury Montego listed for sale on all of kijiji Canada.

Your 1970 listed at $14,500 obo

Calgary 1969 listed at $10,000 obo

3 in regina.

2 parts cars .......best offer

another Regina one needs full restore no asking price.... just best offer

Yours is def the best in all of Canada. And it seems a rare car. Put that in your ad.biggrin

You have 8 spots for pictures....use them all. Ad a picture of other rims/tires, maybe a picture of "rare" options letter, and maybe a picture of Complete front.

I dont know if you just hit the repost button, but if you have had that many views, as a buyer, I want to think I am the first one to see it or have the chance to buy it. Dont post "if you see this ad I still have it! Doesnt really inspire me to race out and have a look at it.

I would maybe think that if that many views....... peaple have came and looked at it and why didn't they buy it??? ( May not be true...no.. but thats how peaple think)

Please! Repost your ad after 2 weeks or if you have more then 600 views and change the pictures around.

If you decide to reduce your price mention that in the ad....peaple that have been watching it might take a second look. And if they have been watching it and you remove and repost ad.....they'll find it again but while they are looking, they be thinking its sold and be pi$$ed they didnt act sooner.

Its a great car!!!biggrin but a lot of work to sell anything on kijiji for sure. You have to deal with so many peaple that waste your timebleh, but if you include as much info as possible in your ad, it helps wean out some of them and all you need is 1 person..

Just my 2 cents...Hope it helps .. but remember... ya get what ya pay for.. and it is free advise. biggrin

here we go again

so its spring right ????????? time to get some new skins for some of the fleet . replied to three ads on the ol kijijiji , not one reply from two , the third ,

dude had two different prs of tires for sale , I sent a reply saying i,m interested in BOTH sets to put on 2 different projects I have going on .

guy sends me a text back saying Ummmm, you do realize these are two different prs of tires right ????

I reply , , as in my original reply , Yes i see they are two different sets . I have two different vehicles I need the tires for . Can u send me a time and a address so we can meet up . 2 days no reply back yet .

Here,s my view of this situation

guy posts 2 items in an ad on a local buy an sell site   ( obviously to sell them )

a guy replies an sez hey I,d like to buy both sets , lets set up a meet time so I can come get them ( obviously an offer to purchase )

seller posts back are you shure you want to buy 2 sets . (  obviously  the wtf part )

buyer , ummm yea thats what i said dummmmmb azzz . ( obviously the " oh gawd not another one "  part )

I think the ad and the car look good. I notice you have a lot of views so I don't know why it hasn't sold. But then I don't think anything over $10K is selling right now. Soon there will be an onslaught of every classic known to man on kijiji so if you really want to sell, lowering the price might be your best option because it will soon be lost in the tsunami.

Hey Wayne,
I see nothing seriously wrong with your ad or price, there is enought info there for a serious buyer. I think the issue is that our generation aren't in the market to buy and the current generation have little interest in our rides. Might just be a sign of what is ahead.

That's one good looking Montego and the price doesn't seem out of line. Only thing I would ad is a nice shot of the front end.
I have an ad on there now stating no trades and still have trade offers, so far one part trade for a crossbow and another for a sailboat.

Hey Folks,
Thankls for the heart felt critique! The car has been on Kijiji for a week!!! NO ONE has looked at it so far!!!NO ONE!I have had trade offers from a 35 Dodge slant back 440, a 39k mi. Harley, to a 69 Cougar XR7 to a clapped put chev pickup and a 08 Rogue mini-van. I didn't think "OBO meant, trade anyting you got ". I need to get this one gone. I need the space and don't want to pay for storage for it.
57150 I will add a straight on frt end shot

A week isn't that long for kijiji. I would keep bumping it up. For $2.99 it's cheap. The last vehicle I had on there got a couple of new phone calls whenever I would bump it and it eventually sold. If you don't bump it, it quickly disappears as many don't go back more than a few days.

I just checked the ad, and find nothing wrong, car looks great, info is sufficient in my opinion. Pics are very good, if i was looking for this type of car, i would seriously consider this car based on the ad.

Forgot to mention i just had a Kijiji selling experience, for a set of heavy cast iron lathe legs. (They just sold.)
However i got two dumb responses, one from a guy in Quebec, didn't want to pay for shipping them, (they weigh about 150lbs,)- he suggested just send them in a CARDBOARD BOX !!

Second response was from a guy in the US , who asked if i could deliver them to Kingston area, and meet him there, as he could come up to the american side ,, come across, and pick them up there in his boat!!

There are some strange people .

I love Kijidiots Best sex ever, like a bad date, they call you,say they want to meet you, then never show up,good Fu#king,or they actually show up and didn't relize that you were asking that much and YOU wasted their time for coming that far to look at you item.Next time I think if someone shows up wanting to buy something and wants it for half price,I am going to chain them to a tree, rip thier pants off,and with a wooden spoon smother their parts with peanut butter and let the guard dog figure it out.Sparky is not to fond of Kijidiots. :)

I sold my car on Kijiji. I had it on a number of times over a 2 year period. The usual fodder of tire kickers, and a couple of decently interesting trade offers. Even a guy that came to see it, showed up on a brand new full dress Harley. Nice guy,  spent a hour with me talking about and looking over the car. He said he wanted it and would be back the next day with cash, never to be seen again.

Then I made a video walk around and offered a link to anyone interested. Sold the car 2 weeks later.

Reviving an old thread to vent on my kijiji experience.

I've had my 60s ford truck for sale since last fall. It's priced over $5k under the appraisal, and I've been working on it ever since getting things done like a new windsheild, and cleaning wiring up etc.

The ad clearly states the price is firm, and it only needs tires to get on the road. I even added that if you're reading this ad i still have it. But I still get over a dozen emails a week asking what the truck needs to get back on the road, if i still have it, and what my lowest price is!

The rest of the emails are ridiculous trade offers, and questions that really have nothing to do with the ad such as "what color was the truck in 1970?". How would i know? Ive only owned it for three years.

Personally ... I have absolutely NO PROBLEMS selling anything on Kijiji .

HOWEVER ... I did have one horses's ass make an absolute ridiculous offer on an ad I have posted on here !!!!

Seriously guys, instead of offering 20% of the asking price just forget it ... you're not even on the same planet

let alone in  the ballpark !! There's just no negotiating when you're that far apart.  And I'm not just talking

about my ad, I'm talking about ANY ad anywhere.

And sure, maybe someone's asking "what you think" is too much for something, but that's subjective, maybe

you're just a tightass. If it is overpriced they'll realize that soon enough on their own!

"Kjiji COMPLETE  waste of time for a seller ...good place to buy ....not to sell......"

This is a hilarious statement. If everyone took this advice there wouldn't be anything to buy !!!

But honestly, looking at some of the spelling, grammar and punctuation on here, its not surprising some of you have issues ... people reading your ads probably can't figure WTF you're talking about !

Everyone wants it for 1/2 of the asking price. But if that's not bad enough try to give something away!!!

I tried to give away a topper. This guy came looked it all over asked if I thought he would be able to buff it. Then he said yes I want it.                                        He said "how is your schedule for next week" my reply was I don't want to make a date (or tell this stranger when I won't be home) I just want to give it away. no

Re London Kijiji Ad - '66 & 67 Beaumont Hardtops - dry stored +35 years / RARE finds.

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1167674409&edited=true&posted=true&adActivated=true&uuid=a65f1597-7c7a-4358-9500-0f57ad16beaf

PS - I don't waist my time discussing prices via short email / if one is to challenged to pickup the phone & have a real conversation,

I consider inquiry, of pure curiosity only.

Case in Point below - turns out even Kids are answering Kijiji ads, just BS time waster's.

From: Eric
How much for the remaining cars?

Hi Eric - are you seriously interested in buying both cars / or just curious ??

- hard to judge, from such a short one line question
$$ is best discussed over telephone / beats throwing out a number, to a perfect stranger
Cheers, Larry  / St. Thomas, ON /  (text519-317-8555cell)

From: Eric
Seriously interested just curious the price then would want more details I'd also come take a look at the cars but only looking for one

Want prices? / takes a phone call. Cheers, Larry

From: Eric
My dad has a 67 Beaumont in rough shape but with 2 could make a nice car

>>

>>

>> Still no real call (from Eric), to my cell...LOL...STOP with the nonsense & lack of funds !!

============================================================================

Last week I had my asking price accepted via text only (on one car) / buyer avoided a personal phone call, at all cost.

- I soon realized, I was being reeled into an fake Escrow Money Company Fraud (possible 3rd World activity).

Buyer Beware, when purchaser refuses to talk over the phone !!

^^ That is what one has to push / the personal phone call - email or text only, amounts to, "failure in action".

=============================================================================

1987 Pontiac Trans Am Coupe - GTA w/L98-5.7L TPI, "T-top" / True survivor:

^^ This car was Kijiji advertised, over a 2 year period / before it found a collector.

- every month, I would get an insulting offer via short email / amounting to 20% of the asking price

- probably same guy had family & friends, send me a new email offer frequently

BTW - had one kid getting his drivers licence, email me an offer of $1,000 for the whole car / GNX alloy rims, are worth that much.

I had some 47 to 53 Chevy pickup fenders and had an offer to trade for a tattoo kit.

Kijiji is a free service. Why would anyone be shocked that it's full of idiots? If someone is serious about selling a car, put out a couple bucks and advertise on a reputable site like Hemmings. If you want to save a few bucks then you'll have to filter out the idiots.

Totally agree, if you want to waste your time use Kijiji.  If you value your time and safety, use another venue!  Aside from the poor guy that got shot for his truck I've heard of several instances where kijiji transactions went south and got unsafe.  Now that the responses are anonymous, strangers can easily find out when you are home and when you are not.  If the poster is generous with pics its pretty easy to figure out where the item is in the house or garage.  No thanks!  Its a shame, I used to enjoy meeting people and selling parts but its just not worth the risk, I have too much to lose.
