Had a ball today at the Golden Beach show .They tell me there was over 200 cars .The Ratlers were well represented with Fatstax,Grumpy and Susan,SACOTU and me.There was a wide assortment from squeekers ,an 08(thats 1908)touring car,and several origional pickups.Lots of restored 40s and 50s,some really nice 60s hemi cars and muscular Chevys. The rats were well represented with us and a nice 50 ford coupe I liked.Don't know what got into Grumpy but he was liking a pearl white 50 ford and it had shiney paint on it Grumpy doesn't usually like shiney so it must have been the heat.Fatstax was out taking pictures so he was able to find some faves as well.Saw a really nice coupe that I wouldn't mind taking home but the guy didn't leave the keys in it.Steve actually put the club decal on his truck so that was a plus. The people in charge really put on a smooth show there were lots of door prizes and I even won something ,no one seams to know what it is, some say a planter, some say a parts washer, had a couple call it a hibachie, everyone else said fill it with ice and beer and don't worry about it,seams to be the way to go.Dave the M.C. kept the show moving along and really made everyone feel welcome.Best part of the show is meeting people you haven't seen for awhile and catching up on new cars or new mods.Kind of a funny story about the 08 touring.Dave(a different Dave) who ownes it drove it to the show(Quite a distance for a 100yr old car )and on the way home after the show there was a long lineup of faster cars (face it everything was faster)waiting to go around him but it was cool cause most people know Dave so there was a lot of good natured fist shaking and waving going on ,when my turn came I also went around waving and calling out to him .Well wouldn't you know it but Fatstax stops on the side of the road to check his tires ,he thought he had a loose wheel or a flat or something. So by the time he is finished who is chugging by us honking and waving ya we were passed by a 100 year old touring car full of people,so be nice on the road or karma might get you.All and all a great day with friends and cars.
