Great show, lots for everyone to see from original stuff right on through to radical showcars, plenty of traditional rides and many celebrities making their rounds.. Gene Winfield is always in our building and he's the nicest guy you can ever hope to meet... Deal! but we always heave plenty O CDN beer with us
I go every year !! I camp on the grounds and tow a trailer behind my street rod. IMHO it's the only show to go to !! I camp right in the fairgrounds. I will be leaving wednesday and going across in Gananoque. I've alway gone down alone, but would welcome anyone that wants to go. The first year i attended I ended up with a top 12 award which was pretty amazing considering it's an American show. It's a beautiful spot to hold a car show !! I would liken it to the CNE grounds. Lots of buildings and such.. The best part is that I can buy a case of Bud for about 16 bucks !!LOL
We camp at the Fairgrounds, usually right next to the oval track, were you can walk across, where the radio announcer booth is, and not to far from the swap meet area, we like to be close to the ice cube truck, it's handy. Look for this old '86 Ford camper, it'll be sporting a Canadian flag or two, should be a '56 primered Poncho (my buddy Rick's), close to it.
I hope the old camper makes it, my first long trip with it, a 600km one way Maiden voyage.

We are headed down Friday morning. If you see a turquoise and white '55 Belair with 1955 Ontario license plates be sure to say hi!
There is a large Canadian contingent staying at the Knights Inn which is across the intersection from the Holiday Inn host hotel and beside the Hess gas station.
I always park at the North fence by the go-kart track. Much quieter and way less traffic. If it's starts to rain (hail) we put our cars under the roof of the horse stalls. At the end of the day, we get to see all the cars leave because they all have to pass by ouyr trailer. Hope the weather is nice !!
Just got in myself from flushing the rad, changing the thermostat, oil change and filter, checked the tire pressure and tightened some belts, the old girl is good to go. I put on four new shocks last week also, just to make sure she doesn't rock too much, LOL. I can't wait...leaving Kitchener for Kingston Wednesday evening, then Thursday, I'm Syracuse bound. I really hope to meet some of you guys there. I'll have some cold American beer on hand.
We are heading down Wed and usually stay in row "B". Kevin has a Chevy motorhome and we have a Prowler 5th wheel. The 57 Chevy wagon is parked in front of it at night. Drop in on the walk by. CDN flag on hitch.

I am on the outside of the track area by the horse barns in area C, stop by for a cold 1, look for a Big canadian flag, right coast banner and rodmasters car club banner.........
The 7 day forcast calls for possible showers Mon and Tues and Sunny till Sunday
The price of GASis as low of 3.42 to a high of 3.69 a gallon
ADD Only 15 cents more a gallon for high test
I'm racing my Anglia friday nite in front of the grand stand in the Nostalgia Drags, sponsored by Old Skool Magazine, come out and cheer me on, i was runner up last year after about 15 rounds, racing on clay is really tricky, the guy from Hot Rod Magazine came over and shook my hand, i said i think the other guy beat me by a car length, he said theres 5000 fans in the grandstand, everytime you raced they were on there feet, you put on the best show every run of the nite (that comment felt better then winning), my car broke loose every run when i shift to second
On Wed night for the last few years there has been a carshow at Gandar Mountain off 81 at Cicero. We usually drop in there for a short while before getting groceries.
Thursday night there is a get-together at the outdoor food market(?), off 81 and James area. Live music there that night.
Syracuse, like always, was awesome!! Good weather, great food and lots of American beer !! Mmmmmmmm.... The guy camping beside us wasn't having as good of a time though. He entered his T-bucket in the nostalgia drags, and lost control of it at the end of the run. Unfortunately the Flagman got in his way and got run over. We heard the Flagman had a broken shoulder and a real messed up leg as well as lots of other injuries. The driver wasn't hurt, but the impact of the Flagman messed the car up real good. The picture doesn't show all the damage, but it's amazing that a human body can bend metal like it did. The center link that hit his legs was 1" thick and was bent. The rad was pushed back into the engine, and the carb scoops were sheared off also. His body flew into the windshield and actually cracked the fiberglass shell. Big mess !! Hope he recovers! He was 59 years old.
had a great time. i think my u-joints are cooked will find out tomorrow. one another tangent. twice on this trip, after filling up at a gas station with the camper trailer in tow, i've come back from paying and someone has driven straight in facing me and started filling at the first pump maybe my fault for not waiting for both pumps to clear and not leave me a clear exit. i'm still seeing red. first guy i asked how long he was going to be because i wouldn't back up the trailer without guidance second guy i wasn't so nice.

It was a fantastic weekend!! Thousands of cool cars of every description and lots of vendors to spend your $$ at. Warm weather and no rain. It does not get much better.
Canada was well represented at the show. I saw many many Ontario and Quebec license plates which is great.
Another update for the 2013 Nationals in Syracuse....
On Friday July 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Centre of Progress building, Mike Wolfe, the star from the reality TV show "American Pickers" will be on hand for a meet and greet!
Two months to go until the big weekend!! Last year over 7,500 cars attended the show. If you have never been, I highly recommend you try and get there. I promise you that youwon't be disappointed. Visit www.rightcoastcars.com for more info.

For those of you who get to Syracuse on Thursday (or before!), there is a free picnic for show participants hosted by the Right Coast Association at Oneida Lake from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday July 18. It is a popular event so get there early! Visit www.rightcoastcars.com for more info and a map to the location. It is not at the fairgrounds where the car show takes place!
Anyone from eastern Ontario or west Quebec travelling down on Friday morning July 19.......I am meeting up with Oldkoot from Brockville at 8:30 a.m. at the Ogdensburg border crossing to travel down to Syracuse. Anyone and everyone are more than welcome to join us for the trip! We will stop for gas once on the way down and should get to the host hotel in Syracuse between 11 a.m. and 12 noon.
Planning on driving down on the Friday and stay until Sunday, This will be my first time there and really looking forward to it
You will not be disappointed!! Be prepared for a warm weekend, it is usually a hot and humid weekend at that point in July, and lots of walking because the fairfrounds are big. Sunscreen and good walking shoes are recommended! There is a tram the circles the perimeter of the fairgrounds and makes various stops around the park.
Never hurts to have an umbrella packed in your car as pop up thunder showers have been known to occur in prior years because of the hot weather. "Liquid sunshine" as the folks in Syracuse like to call it!!
If you need to wash your car, there is a spot in the fairgrounds where there is a garden hose that you can use. Bring your own cleaning and drying supplies!
When it gets closer to the event, we'll figure out a meeting place on the fairgrounds. I know we talked about this a couple of months ago, but it's probably best to do it a week before.

I didn't know people still used water to wash theirs cars?? Now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever washed my car with water in the 7 years I've had it. My daily drivers get the local touchless car-wash though !!
I have my hotel and registration booked. I am planning on going down early Thursday morning as I am planning a family vacation around Syracuse area for the same time.
As for washing my truck, I hate washing, that's why I have rat rod. Clean the glass and go.
