Good subject Henry....I am actually living in our popup right now, traveling out in Alberta for a month. Its fairly modern, but I did have an old classic trailer a number of years ago.....it was a late 60s South Park
This picture was taken In White River On in 2007. Clarke and Cher became my heros on that trip. You see they were living in Santa Cruz CA. and moved to North Carolina. They jumped in the 27 and started their trip in Santa Cruz and met the movers in N.C. After the movers were finished in N.C. they took off for Toronto. From Toronto to Victoria BC with us on the rod tour. From Victoria back to North Carolina. All in a 27 ford roadster, with NO top, dragging a teardrop trailer behind them.
Clarke, myself and 2 other friends have since visited beautiful dowtown Victoria for the Deuce days show in 2010. Three of us with no tops and Clarke put a top on his "new" 32 roadster.

A couple of mine. A 1973 Scotty a 1963 Tee Pee and the last one not sure it came with a home built ownership. The guys on Tin Can Tourist think its a 1956-7 Va-ka-shun-ette.

When our kids were young we bought a '74 Coleman hard-top from a cousin. Had a queen size bunk on the one end, twin at the other, 3 burner, sink, heater, etc. We used it about 8 years then had the canvas and plastic(tinted) replaced and used it another 4 or 5. Sold it when we went to a 30' to a fellow who parked it at his parents place in Port Elgin, where it stayed about 5 years.
A few years back friends were looking at hard-tops. We went along, most were junk so on a whim I called the guy we sold ours to. Oddly enough they just brought it home to sell.
Our friends bought and used it a couple years then bought my brother-in-law's 21' Golden Falcon and gave the hard-top to their daughter and future son-in -law (my nephew). Before the kids used it they bought a 21' Prowler so they gave the hardtop to my daughter and her boyfriend.
It's a great unit, floors are still solid as the day it was built. One of the cables broke but the boyfriend is a mechanic and he had it fixed pronto. Like a bad rash, it just keeps coming back.
Not sure that I have any pictures, but I have been towing these things around for a few years now as well. My first was (is) an '84 Terry Taurus, I scored it from a trailer park that wanted it moved off it's property. The interior was trashed by it's previous owners and all the plumbing fixtures had been removed. I replaced everything, put in some new flooring, new tires and made some repairs to the brakes etc...then dragged it around Ontario for about 3 years. It served us well and is now retired to the back of my property where it can be used as a bunk house or camp out (I'm on 86 acres). That trailer was good, but was still missing some things that I didn't want to invest into that old of a trailer (like a stove, proper RV fridge, upholstery LOL) so my wife and I began looking for a replacement. We planned to do some longer distance traveling so I wanted something lighter and a little shorter (I had two kids at the time, 3 now, but they are 8 and under). I found a 1998 21' Flagstaff for a deal I couldn't turn down, and drove to Kingston to look at it, When I got there I liked everything but two things...the tires were shot and it had "Surge" type breaks. I made a deal pointing out the tires were garbage and drove it directly to a tire shop and put 4 new tires on it before I headed home. I then converted it over to electric brakes and we have been enjoying it ever since. It's been to Halifax/PEI on one trip, Quebec city on another (where I drove around inside Old Quebec city during the Summer Festival towing it with my 2005 1500HD Crew cab...it was tight LOL), and numerous trips around Ontario...just got back from Awenda Provincial Park near Penatang this past week.
When Sue & I got married we towed a hardtop to Vancouver Island & back with the Falcon. Took 3 weeks & had a great time. 'course that was 27 years ago........ Not that she's down on horse pressure but I think towing our 30 footer might be excessive, lol. We just have the kids(plus boy/girl-friends pile into the two ragtops & follow us now. Makes a guy feel pretty good when his kids - who are all young adults themselves - still want to tag along on holidays. The beach, horse-shoes, bbq, beer, fires, tunes......life can't get any better.
Ok, so after making Hemi43 crap his pants about the legality of towing trailers behind our classics I spoke with a representative from Lant at "Classics on Kent" today. It appears that the information I got from Whetter/Oakland when I began my policy was not altogether clear. It seems that we can do anything we want with our cars/trucks as long as it has something to do with fixing or showing our cars/trucks.
I was told that I CAN pull a car trailer with a vehicle on the trailer at 6000lbs or so even though my truck was not designed to tow that much. I CANNOT pull a trailer full of wood, lumber, dirt, thongs, elves, farts or feathers unless I'm taking them to some destination that involves the use of the trailer "load" in fixing or showing my ride! A trailer full of beer, camping equipment and more beer goin to a show is OK!
So towing our teardrops, Bowlers, Trilliums or 'wiggle-wagons" to car shows is OK. Taking them for vacations is supposed to be a No-no but that lady winked at me when I asked her. Her reply, other than the wink, was that there's usually a car show just about anywhere you go these days. So to cover your collective asses I suggest, when you drive to BC or out East, you go to a car show just to get the registration incase something happens on the way. Who would have guessed it?

Maybe the Lady that winked at you wanted to show you how she could click her heels together behind her head inside your wiggle-wagon!!
there s a few pics of my daughter first ever owner camper .........the price was right for her budget it s small and easy to tow 1969 Glendale ........wonder where she got her taste for vintage things ? going camping this weekend

Pete, more details, thoughts??
Steve does that mean the citationette will up for grabs?
As far as the new trailer being vintage, it is all in the mind of the beholder (viewer), I like all years so it fits in my mind.
I would say that anything before the mid 80s is vintage when it comes to RVs....Seems around 1990, there was a major change to the modern style, with the white outer skin and fake wood cabinets etc......Pete, if you want to start a group, I will give you a hand
I was kind of thinking along the lines of single axle tin siding. There are alot of vintage trailer groups on face book and other places but not much Canadian content never mind Ontario. I dont want to say no to any one just my interest is small single axle tin type trailers.

I think the old Bolers and Trilliams are cool.....there is a 13ft Boler parked beside us tonight...looks out of place with all the 40 ft 5th wheels etc.....Of course, our little popup looks out of place with them too...We is trailer trash...lol

ya we started out camping in a tent then graduated to popups but the wife wanted her own private can so we bought a new 21 foot travel trailer, it's perfect for the two of us . pull it with a grnd caravan no problem. loved camping from day 1 still do.
My classic car insurance specifically says I can't tow a trailer, which I would love to do! I hope you guys are covered.....
That's one of the reasons I don't bother with classic car insurance. I can tow or drive anywhere anytime for any reason. My last vehicle had the classic car insurance and never had any problems,,and for about 6 months it was my only vehicle until spring. Now had my insurance company been on their toes they would have contacted me.. The limitations would really only bite you in the ass if a cop/mto who is familiar with classic car insurance asks you a loaded question that you answer WRONG..,,

Very nice Fatchuk !! Perfect for 2 people, and a whole lot less stressfull than driving a 37ft A-class around.
The teardrop in my avatar got too small (Son got too big) so I sold it and bought a Coleman Switchback a few years ago. Very cool unit, very light (850lbs), and very rare. Coleman started building these in 2009, but the trailer section went out of business before finishing their run. Less than 50 were ever built, and this is number 0020.

well ours is not a tow behind ..We just bought this in Jan hope to have a couple good summers trucking around..the wife would like to see route 66 and the civil war trail ..So we thought this little guy would be good ..It has the 8.1 Chevy with an Allison 5speed..hoping for good health for a couple years..
Nothing special but gets the wife, kid and I out every so often. No longer have the truck to pull it, gotta find something by July as I already have a weekend booked for camping.
This is my 2009 Flagstaff 10', on a weekend at my SIL who lived in Campbellford.
A bit of advice here on old trailers/RV's . Before you lay out serious money , have the unit inspected . I work at a large RV dealer in the Windsor area ( Leisure Trailers ) and we see a lot of water damaged stuff come in for repair . Unfortunately the new buyers didn't know what they were looking at and didn't get another opinion . Water is THE BIG PROBLEM with old RV's and difficult to detect . " Stick and tin " RV's ( aluminum siding with wood framing ) seem to be the worst compared to the newer fiberglass types .
Any one buying used need to do there do diligence even from a dealership. Lots of crap trailers out there. Be vary careful if you have a dealership that has HUGE BLOW OUT MEGA sales. As for teejays advice after 10 years lead tech I will take a stick and tin any day over a fiberglass sided unit. Delamination can be real costly and most people cant do it at home.
