Hi, My name is Jim and I live in Barrie. I'm the half owner of a couple of vintage race cars.
I drive this one...
The other guy, also named Jim drives this one...
Both cars are powered by 409 Chevys and run in the mid to low tens. We try and make it to the majority of the ONDR races. (Ontario Nostalgia Drag Racers)
We also have a pretty cool old truck that we sometimes use to pull a car with. It's a 57 Mack...
This looks like a really good site. I'm happy to be signed up!
Wow nice cars Welcome from Port Hope/Cobourg area looks like the collective ET on this site just dropped a second or two.409s very cool.I think there might be a couple others with them here. Ed
My ultimate dream is to own an old tractor like your Mack, and tow a fifth wheel camper trailer, and just tour North America. Pipe dream, but that's just that. Nice cars, Welcome to the site.
Great looking cars. love to see the older bodies still being used.(And the 409's!!)
You're MACK,, -Is the original engine driveline still in it or?
Impressive neat tidy set ups!!
The Mack originally had a 706 ci gas engine. We re-powered it with a DT466 International diesel. The entire driveline came from a 1996 model school bus.
I know, the engine is painted Caterpillar yellow.
The truck works very well but the school bus gearing is a bit low. We're replacing the old four speed Allison with a newer five speed that has an overdrive and lockup converter. I'm thinking it should cruise along nicely with the new tranny.
Very nice set up you and your partner have. I was to be down to the race today but the weather did not cooperate. Nice to see the ONDR represented so well as your team has
Hi Jim! Checked your cars out at Grand Bend as well. I saw your Pontiac behind the fence when you first got it, that thing was in amazing condition! Has to be a U.S car.

No it's a Canadian Pontiac. It came from the Winnipeg area.
I'm looking forward to building the new aluminum 409 over the winter. We're hoping the car will run in the mid to high nines next year.
Also followed the build on Poncho, and loved the fabrication pics nicely done. The new motor should take some serious weight off the nose. Hope to get to see those cars one day in action.
