Hmmm ... Perth eh.

You guys have a car show every Monday night from 6-9 at the Civitan. I arrived there last Monday just before 8 to find that not only did I have the nicest old car in the parking lot biggrin, I also had the ONLY old car in the parking lot no.

Seriously though, we had the old car at the cottage (Bolingbroke area) and needed to pick up fishing licences so we figured we'd head into Perth and hit the local cruise too.  In your defense (not that you need defending biggrin) the weather, although nice from 7:30ish on, was not the best earlier that evening.  Took the back roads back to the cottage and saw a fawn and mom so that was cool and made the trip worth it.

PS ... welcome smile

Welcome,, wondering if there are any old vehichles left up around the "Snow Road Station" area, was up through there drivin back roads years ago and there were quite a few!

Found an empty farm, and behind the old run down garage was a real solid Model "A" pick up. Almost looked driveable!!

(Have no clue now which road it was on.)

Shows in the area are posted in a lot of places but the most comprehensive list is at 6one3.com. You can become a member for free if you want to participate or just look at the various places on the site for a list of shows and cruise nights. Locally the cruise nights are

Monday nights 6 to 8 PM - Perth Civitan club on Hwy 43 between Perth an Smiths Falls, unless it rains
Wednesday nights 6 to 8 PM - Carleton Place at the RONA parking lot on Hwy 7, unless it rains
Thursday nights 6 to 8 PM - Smiths Falls at the Walmart parking lot on Hwy 15, unless it rains

I always wondered why old cars are allergic to rain? I know my old car tries to pass the driver in the rain whether you like it or not. Please note that I try not to refer to old cars as "hot rods" anymore because of the definition used by the Provincial Ministry of the Environment.

Thanks for the welcome folks

Now that's not fair, I'll blow my entire long weekend looking for that truck now. smile

Lots of iron in these woods, just a matter of finding it. I have a Chevelle in the swap/sell and my have a potential ratrod and 29 A roadster for sell soon stay posted.

Sorry about your luck with the car show thing not sure what to tell ya, I haven't been over to it this year. You would have had your fair share of iron to look at if you made it to Smiths Falls last weekend for the Rolling Thunder show. Or three weeks ago at the Merricksville show on the Rideau. Both had excellent weather and all sorts of fine machinery.

Hey, no need to apologize, I knew the weather wasn't the greatest earlier that day/evening.  The internet says the show ends at dusk which by my estimation is somewhere past 8:30 this time of year, just thought I'd find at least a couple of oldies in the parking lot when I arrived just before 8.  I did see a couple of old ones around Perth while I was searching for the Civitan ... a black '65ish GM car (Biscayne?) and a 48-52ish red GM p-up.  Seems my GPS comes up blank when I entered "civitan" and when we stopped at a phone booth for an address the Civitan was listed as rural route something ... again drew a blank on my GPS.  Followed the guy in the red truck into the Canadian Tire parking lot and got directions from him.

I should add, I did not drive the old car to the cottage just with the intention of hitting the cruise, we use it daily in the summer.  Needed the fishing licences anyway, so just figured we'd combine the trip to Perth for the licences with the local cruise.
